Immeasurable Basketball: Season Review

Immeasurable Basketball 17U wasn't handed an easy path this summer. Between a late AAU start, roster challenges, and never quite having the full group together at practice, this team faced adversity before they even stepped on the floor. Add in the fact that the roster had several 2028's playing up a level, and the odds weren't exactly stacked in their favor. But this group didn't back down from any of it, and we were happy to see this squad go out and compete on the Prep Hoops Circuit.   What stood out most was the growth. This team looked like a completely different group by the end of the season than they did at the start, especially on the defensive end, where the improvement was undeniable. There were breakout performances from unexpected places, hard workers who set the tone every time out, and a togetherness off the court that carried over into real chemistry on it. This roster is full of underrated ballers with plenty of untapped potential, and the flashes they showed this summer suggest there's a lot more still to come.   In this Season Review, we're taking a look back at the journey, the challenges, and the growth that defined Immeasurable Basketball's 17U squad this summer. Head Coach: Bennie Taylor   "At the beginning of the year, I didn't know what kind of team this would be. I had 4 guys returning to my team and another who was in my program a year ago on another team. He's the best ball-handler on the floor and usually the best passer, defends with ferocious intensity, and scores at all three levels while still running the offense cleanly."     "Work in progress on the offensive end, but on the defensive end, he is going to give you everything. Block shots and rebounds. Proud of him."     "6'6" athletic long defender could guard every spot on the floor. If and when he decides to take the weight room seriously and improve his shot, Kasen can play in college. Great Slasher, rebounder. Must improve his left hand as well. Proud of his growth."     "6'4" and he can shoot the ball really well. Must improve footwork, defend better, and rebound better. I was really starting to see some glimpses of it towards the end, but he has to keep working at it. He is another that can play at the next level with elite shooting."     "Breitbach is a shooter; I believe he holds the record at his school for the most threes by a landslide. Can handle the ball as well, not a bad defender on the perimeter. Has a good work ethic that will keep making him the man at his school. I believe with Carter's shooting ability, he can also play at the next level. If he gets in the weight room and tightens up his ball handling. Proud of him!"     "I wasn't sure he was going to give us a lot on offense, but on defense he sure did. His offense finally started clicking and the physicality was second nature after a while. Even to this day, his ball handling and work ethic have been second to none. He is a different player from when I got him 4 months ago. Very Proud of him. Hoping he keeps coming to training sessions.15-25 points this year."     "Stevick made the first tourney and his knee popped out. So, he didn't finish the season. I'm proud of Jack. He has been with me since 4th grade and trained in our program since he was knee-high to a duck, along with KBT. This year we have very high expectations to crack the 6-man rotation or be a starter at Minot High."     "Beall is a wild card. Deep shooting ability; can play defense but lacks confidence at times. He is another that needs the weight room. I believe we will see a different kid. This year he took a step in the right direction, though. I'm proud of him."     "He started out rocky, but by the end of our season you could start to see a difference. He was not very confident. A lot of conversations to get him to the point where he got better towards the end of our season. Actually has shooting ability and defends. Another year under IB3, you will see a different kid. Can't wait to see how the school season goes. 1st year in AAU."     "Transferred to Minot North High School. Seth is going to give you everything he has on the floor. He is another who struggled with confidence at times this year. Has ball handling ability, has to get stronger with it, and improve his shot. I will keep working with through out the year to get him ready. We try not to talk games and everyone can be themselves and enjoy the evening, including the parents.”   PHD: Can you tell us about a memorable play or game that really sticks out?   “I think for me just getting better as a team and watching individuals play better.”   PHD: Who was your "go-to" player when you needed a basket?   “K'Shaun was my go-to. His physicality to get to the basket or his spot to shoot the ball.”   PHD: Who was your most improved player?   “[player_tooltip player_id='3130147' first='AJ' last='Fuller'] was probably my most improved. I wish he would have been there for the last game.”     PHD: How did the team improve from the start of the season to the end?    “The team was night and day from the beginning to the end. We improved so much on the defensive end, and you started see what we could do at times on offense.”   PHD: Who were a few of your hardest workers?   “[player_tooltip player_id='3701930' first='Seth' last='Pacovsky'], K'Shaun Bennie Taylor and [player_tooltip player_id='2399736' first='Kasen' last='Halvorson'], along with [player_tooltip player_id='3130147' first='AJ' last='Fuller'].”   PHD: Can you talk about a time when you and the team overcame adversity?   “Every time we stepped on the floor we had to overcome adversity. We were behind, starting late for AAU, not  having one practice with everyone there.”   PHD: Who was your top post player?   “[player_tooltip player_id='3130147' first='AJ' last='Fuller'] was my best post and he was the only post we had really. His size put pressure on the defense.”   PHD: Were there any memorable buzzer-beaters, upsets, or clutch performances?   “KBT had a phenomenal play. I ran a 1-4 play, basically an iso play.  Went at his defender going left and hit the shot. The team went nuts.”   PHD: Who emerged as an unexpected contributor or breakout star?   “[player_tooltip player_id='2399736' first='Kasen' last='Halvorson']. Didn't know what to expect going in, with a new team.”    PHD: What lessons from this season go beyond basketball?   “The Wins are coming; it's just a matter of when.
