Not only did this team have great guard play, they had size underneath to go with it. At 6’8 Skyler played inside and out. He finished the game I watched with 16 points, including a couple of threes. He has a soft touch for a big man and that obviously extends past the three point line. rn
Highlights
Liam Siattum
Liam Siattum
Liam is another player who was tough inside and out, also cashing one in from deep. He’s a versatile player who had some good moves in the post. He had a bucket on a nice jump hook and was tough on the boards. He also blocked a couple of shots. He played physical and hard for a talented team and was a key piece in the win over BDH. I had him for 11 points. rn
Jamierre Phillips
Jamierre Phillips
Might have been the best on ball defender on the More Than Hoops team. He is quick and can really move his feet on defense, getting a couple of steals in the game I watched. Like the other guards on his team, he was also tough to the basket with drives. He finished with 8 points unofficially.rn
Not sure no roster #22
Not sure no roster #22
He was relentless in his efforts to attack the defense with strong drives. He was successful at it, getting to the rim and finishing strong. He was a downhill player and one of the best doing so that I watched on Sunday. He has good enough size and is strong when he gets to the basket. He must have had around 20 points and most all of them came from drives to the hoop. He also took a couple coast to coast for buckets. Strong player who can get to the rack time and time again. He is crafty as well, including trying to check himself into the game while I was getting roster from the coach. Just as he does in the game, he saw an opening and went for it:)
Caleb Perry
Caleb Perry
Caleb started and played well vs More than Hoops. He finished with 11 points unofficially, including hitting three from long range. He was solid against some tough ball pressure and added a few rebounds even though he was the smallest player on the floor. He can really shoot it when he gets going. rn
I like his game in that he is able to make tough shots with regularity. He uses good footwork and plays at his own speed, setting up the defense and knocking down shots from mid-range with fadeaways, and step throughs. He can shoot the three. He has a high basketball IQ. He is versatile. He is strong enough to be effective scoring at the rim. It might not have been what he would consider a highlight but he made a nice cross court pass in the half court for a wide open three. I thought it was definitely notable as I see so many times that pass would be effective to get open looks. Maybe a lost art, was glad to see it happening.
