These players have all suffered their fair share of bad luck, however, their skill and talent, and heart give them a chance to persevere. In another edition of our Way Too Early HS season previews, we take a look at 8 players from the class of 2024 ready to turn minor setbacks, into major comebacks.
There will be a lot of excitement for Adem’s return. One of the most exciting players in the state had his 2022-23 season end before it started with a knee injury. His rehab has been coming along nicely and you have to believe that the ubber competitive PG is chomping at the bit to remind everyone why he’s one of the best players in the state.

Williams is coming off a season that he was forced to miss because of an injury. The forward is a versatile scorer with the ability to also impact games with his rebounding. The Reno prospect is poised to become an attractive sleeper prospect for coaches looking for interior scoring from the 3 or 4 spot.

I think we forget how good McCall was when healthy. One of the top shooters in the state looked to be on the brink of a huge breakout season when he was hit with a season ending knee injury. The floor spacing combo guard has used the injury as motivation, as he looks like he’s added even more muscle to his frame. With he and Adem returning, Spring Valley could be a sneaky contender in 5A.
While it wasn’t an injury that held Ellana back, he didn’t play much last season. The 2024 post is one of the top high academic big’s in the state. He has a chance to showcase his size and signature skill of shot blocking this season, and between strong play on the summer circuit and high school he’ll have plenty of opportunities to impress.
Baltierrez was on his way to a breakout campaign before getting hit by the injury bug last year. He’s one of the best competitors in 4A as well as one of the best shooters. His return to Basic next season could provide the Wolves with one of the best 1-2 punches in the league with he and PG Alvonte Nelson Alvonte Nelson 6’2″ | CG Basic | 2024 State NV manning the backcourt.
What ever school Taylor ends up at will be getting a very productive player. The Combo guard is one of the better defenders in the state, but missed last season after sitting out for transfer reasons. Look for him to bounce back in a big way this season, as he has the experience and skill to be a major contributor for someone.
Coulter bounced back from injury last season, however a 100% healthy TJ is one of the state’s best shooters. In addition to his floor spacing ability, I’m looking forward to watching him showcase some pure PG ability as well, as the combination of ballhandling and passing to go along with his shooting will only raise his recruiting stock.
Bryan is a two sport star that missed most of the basketball season with a football related injury. The big body banger looked healthy when I saw him toward the end of the high school season, so I expect him to do some damage during Grassroots play, which will propel him into a strong senior campaign.
