We recently updated our class of 2025 rankings in the state of Virginia, with a lot of new faces and movement throughout the rankings. The rankings consist of 83 prospects, making it the most in depth rankings in the state.

We will take a look at the rankings by position over the next few days. Here's a look at part one of the point and combo guards in the sophomore class.

25) [player_tooltip player_id='1494123' first='Howard' last='Casterlow'] | 5'9” PG | Nansemond-Suffolk (#70 Overall)

Casterlow is the type of point guard that makes a team better, as he's a tone setter on both ends of the floor and he can create for himself and others off the bounce. The 5'9” guard is a natural athlete who has good quickness and speed in the open floor, he makes good reads off the pick-and-roll and he can touch the paint where he draws contact and makes plays for others.

24) [player_tooltip player_id='1956080' first='AJ' last='Swinney'] | 5'9” PG | Cape Henry (#67 Overall)

Swinney is an up-and-comer in the 757 who is having a great spring with Team Loaded 757, and while he isn't the biggest player he can hoop with the best of them. He's a knock down shooter who has effortless range and makes defenders pay for going under screens, he's shifty off the bounce and can create space and make plays for others and he has a competitive chip to him as well.

23) [player_tooltip player_id='1870443' first='Sol' last='Vita'] | 6'0” PG | South Lakes (#66 Overall)

Vita is a skilled lead guard who is a big reason that South Lakes is trending toward being one of the top teams in NOVA public schools, and he's the perfect floor general for this talented team. The 6'0” lead guard is dynamite in transition where he can finish in traffic and make plays for others, he's a good shooter from deep who knocks down shots when open and he's an excellent on ball defender too.

22) [player_tooltip player_id='1767543' first='Gavin' last='Herrington'] | 5'11” PG | Floyd County (#65 Overall)

Herrington is one of the top guards in the New River/Roanoke Valley areas, and he continues to get better as his game grows into his natural athleticism. He's a big time athlete who is a good defender and rebounds very well for his position, he's shifty and has good burst with the ball allowing him to get downhill and finish at the rim and he impacts the game by both scoring and distributing the ball.

21) [player_tooltip player_id='1767542' first='Theo' last='Burke'] | 5'10” CG | WT Woodson (#59 Overall)

Burke had a solid year for Woodson and will continue to get better throughout the years, and he's showing he's one of the most skilled guards in NOVA public schools. He's a high IQ player who can play on or off the ball and gets his bigs involved, he can make shots both from deep and in the midrange where he can hit the pull-up going either way and he's a smart defender both on the ball in help side.

20) [player_tooltip player_id='1956070' first='Jalen' last='Deloatch'] | 6'1” PG | James River (#56 Overall)

Deloatch is emerging as one of the top guards in the Richmond area, as he had a very good sophomore year and has had a great start to his spring with Team Richmond. He's a dynamic guard who can score the ball from all over the floor as he's a good shooter off the catch and off the bounce, he has good burst and gets downhill where he's a good finisher and he's a natural playmaker on both ends of the floor.

19) [player_tooltip player_id='1494120' first='Everett' last='Jones'] | 6'2” PG | Flint Hill (#52 Overall)

Jones has been a solid contributor for Flint Hill in his first two seasons, and with their talented senior class graduating he should see even more opportunities over the next few years. The 6'2” lead guard has good size and uses that size to get deflections and rebound well for his position, he has good feel and makes the right play and he's an efficient shot maker from multiple levels too.

18) [player_tooltip player_id='1494116' first='Kassidy' last='Jackson'] | 5'10” PG | Green Run (#42 Overall)

Jackson is one of the top young guards in the 757, and he's already had a lot of experience starting for Green Run since he was a freshman and continuing to improve over that time. He's a lightning quick and super shifty guard who can work in the pick-and-roll and in isolation situations, he can both touch the paint to make plays and scores the ball from all three levels off the bounce and he's a lock down on ball defender as well.

17) [player_tooltip player_id='1956067' first='EJ' last='Schneeberg'] | 6'2” PG | Potomac School (#40 Overall)

Schneeberg is a young guard who had a breakout season for Potomac School, and with their top scorer leaving he should be on the ball more and have more opportunities this next year. The 6'2” guard showed he can play on or off the ball and make shots from deep in both ways, he's a very good defender who can guard the ball and jumps passing lanes and he is very good in transition with good speed and playmaking ability.

16) [player_tooltip player_id='1494113' first='Camryn' last='Pacheco'] | 6'3” CG | Spotswood (#39 Overall)

Pacheco is one of the best players in the Harrisonburg area, and he stepped up as their go-to guy this year and put up big numbers and was named to the Class 3 All State team. Pacheco is able to impact the game in a number of different ways as he shoots the ball well from deep and in the midrange, he makes good reads and decisions with the ball in his hands and he is a good defender with good instincts on and off the ball.
