We will take a look at the rankings by position over the next few days. Here’s a look at part two of the point guards and combo guards in the sophomore class.
15) Kenny Chicas Kenny Chicas 6'2" | PG Woodgrove | 2025 State VA | 6’2” PG | Woodgrove (#36 Overall)
Chicas had a big sophomore season being named First Team All District and showing his all-around skillset that allows him to be productive in a number of different ways. He’s a big and strong guard that can defend the ball and forces turnovers, he is a skilled shooter from deep and a crafty finisher around the rim and he’s a good playmaker in transition and in the pick-and-roll as well.
14) Ethan Collins Ethan Collins 6'3" | CG Wise-Central | 2025 VA | 6’3” CG | Wise-Central (#35 Overall)
After a good freshman season, Collins had a breakout sophomore season emerging as one of the best players in SWVA, as he was an All State selection that averaged 22 points per game this year including a 44 point 16 rebound game this year. He’s a big guard who can handle the rock and is a good finisher in traffic when he gets downhill, he can knock down shots consistently from deep and he’s a good rebounder and defender for his position too.
13) Jordan Hairston Jordan Hairston 6'0" | PG Miller | 2025 State VA | 5’11” PG | Blue Ridge (#33 Overall)
Hairston may get overshadowed a bit on his talented Blue Ridge team that had a lot of experience in the backcourt, but there’s no doubt his time will come and he’s shown in AAU that he can hoop with the best of them. He’s a steady floor general type of guard who handles pressure and controls the tempo, he’s a natural playmaker who can create for himself and others off the bounce and he has a high IQ on both ends of the floor.
12) Troy Henderson Troy Henderson 5'9" | PG Lancaster | 2025 State VA | 5’9” PG | Lancaster (#32 Overall)
Henderson has been the top player in Class 1 over the past few seasons, and was named State Player of the Year after leading Lancaster to a state championship this past season. The 5’9” lead guard is a smooth operator as he can get wherever he wants on the floor and create space with the ball in his hands, he’s a natural playmaker with vision that can thread the needle and is a pinpoint passer and he controls the flow of the game and gets his team into sets easily.
11) Jackson Britt Jackson Britt 6'3" | CG Evergreen Christian | 2025 State VA | 6’3” CG | Evergreen Christian (#31 Overall)
Britt is an emerging prospect on an emerging Evergreen Christian team that has a lot of talent, and he’s a big part of their trend upwards as he’s becoming one of the top guards in the DMV. The 6’3” combo is smooth off the bounce and works well in the pick-and-roll where he can turn the corner and finish at the rim, he’s a knock down shooter from deep who sets his feet and has good range and he can make plays for others as well.
10) Jeremiah Gorham Jeremiah Gorham 6'0" | PG Highland | 2025 State VA | 5’10” PG | Highland School (#30 Overall)
Gorham was a big reason for Highland School’s run to the state championship in Head Coach Logan Miller’s first year, as he was a big spark off the bench for them with his ability to make things happen off the bounce. He’s a lightning quick guard who is shifty and changes directions well off the bounce, he can knock down shots from deep and in the midrange where he has good elevation and he is a good on ball defender who can pick up the length of the floor.
9) Khalil Caple Khalil Caple 6'4" | CG Norfolk Collegiate | 2025 State VA | 6’3” CG | Norfolk Collegiate (#29 Overall)
Caple is part of a NoCo team that is young and talented and will be a team to reckon with in the TCIS over the next few years, and he’s got a chance to be perhaps the best player on that team. The 6’3” combo has good size and a lot of toughness to him as he defends and rebounds well for his position, he can use his size to see over smaller guards and deliver passes and he can score the ball from all three levels as well.
8) Adrean Newton Adrean Newton 6'0" | PG Maury | 2025 State VA | 6’0” PG | Maury (#25 Overall)
There are a lot of talented young guards in the 757 right now, but Newton has perhaps had the best career so far out of them as he’s started for a very successful Maury team from day one. The 6’0” lead guard is a throwback style guard who is a true floor general that runs the show and makes everyone on the team better, he can break down defenders in isolation and pick-and-rolls with his quickness and ability to change speeds and he picks his spots and scores it efficiently in a number of different ways.
7) Masiah Stevens Masiah Stevens 5'10" | PG Woodside | 2025 State #263 Nation VA | 5’10” PG | Woodside (#22 Overall)
Stevens is another very talented young guard in the 757, and he’s set to have a breakout junior season with Woodside’s top scorers in the backcourt graduating. The 5’10” guard is a tough nosed scoring guard who gets downhill and draws contact and gets to the free throw line, he has good burst and the ability to blow by defenders, he can knock down shots consistently from deep both off the catch and off the bounce and he is a good on ball defender as well.
6) Shane Lincoln Shane Lincoln 6'4" | PG Bishop O'Connell | 2025 State VA | 6’4” PG | Bishop O’Connell (#21 Overall)
Lincoln is a part of a very talented O’Connell team that is loaded with division one talent, and while he may not put up the biggest numbers fro a scoring perspective he manages to make an impact in other ways when he’s on the floor. He’s a steady ball handler who handles pressure and gets them into their sets, he makes great decisions and the easy play consistently, he’s a very good defender who moves his feet and uses his length to challenge shots and get deflections and he can score the ball well in the midrange and at the rim too.
