We will take a look at the rankings by position over the next few days. Here’s a look at part two of the power forwards and centers in the sophomore class.
11) Ibrahim Gati Ibrahim Gati 6'9" | PF Amelia Academy | 2025 State VA | 6’8” PF | Amelia Academy (#29 Overall)
Gati is a new name in VA that coaches should get familiar with quickly, as he has major upside and tons of raw talent that has a lot of room for improvement moving forward. He’s pushing 6’9” with long arms and is a very good athlete who is explosive and makes plays around the rim, he defends with intensity and protects the rim and he has good touch and should be able to develop into a consistent shooter too.
10) Xavier Wilson Xavier Wilson 6'5" | C Colonial Forge | 2025 State VA | 6’5” C | Colonial Forge (#26 Overall)
While Wilson may be a little undersized at this point in his career, he’s likely still growing and he has a lot of length and athleticism that allows him to play bigger than expected. The 6’5” big man moves very well as he gets up and down the floor and can move laterally, he’s an explosive finisher offensively and protects the rim defensively and he’s physical and tough in the paint making him hard to matchup with.
9) David Miller David Miller 6'6" | PF Green Run | 2025 State VA | 6’6” PF | Green Run (#24 Overall)
Miller has been one of the top young players in the 757 over the past few years as he’s been a starter for Green Run from day one, and he took no time making a name for himself with his production level. He’s starting to see division one schools recruit him too as he has a good frame and is strong and clears out space in the paint, he has good ball skills on the perimeter as he can shoot it and put it on the deck and he’s becoming more and more athletic as he continues to grow into his body.
8) Jordan McConnell Jordan McConnell 6'10" | C Phillips Exeter Academy | 2025 State VA | 6’10” C | Woodberry Forest (#16 Overall)
McConnell is a project big whose best basketball is still ahead of him, but what a project he is as he has intimidating size and a base skillset you don’t see in many young bigs like him. He’s a legit 6’10” with good hands and good feet in the paint, he has good touch both in the paint and has the ability to step out on the perimeter where he can knock down the three ball and he’s able to alter shots and protect the paint without fouling.
7) Riley Jacobs Riley Jacobs 6'8" | C St. Stephen's & St. Agnes | 2025 State VA | 6’7” PF | St. Stephen’s St. Agnes (#15 Overall)
Jacobs is part of a young SSSAS team that will be back to their old ways over the next few years, and with him manning the middle they will always get good production in the paint. The 6’7” big man is a tough matchup for any team as he can use his strength to clear out space and finish or rebound in the post, he has good touch out to the three-point line and he can face up and take defenders off the bounce too. He has a mix of grit and plays with a high motor as well as a good skillset that allows him to be productive in a number of ways.
6) Wyatt Norton Wyatt Norton 6'8" | C Bishop O'Connell | 2025 State VA | 6’9” C | Bishop O’Connell (#14 Overall)
Norton is an absolute gem of a prospect in the DMV with as much potential as anyone on this list, and he could have a breakout summer during the live period heading into his junior year. At 6’9” Norton has a lot of tools that translate to the next level ranging from his size and athleticism to his versatile skillset that allows him to do a lot of things on both ends of the floor. He gets up and down the floor in transition and is an athletic finisher around the rim, he can knock down shots from deep and stretch the floor and he is a good defender who can protect the rim and switch on pick-and-rolls too.
