With the release of our updated 2024 player rankings, it means for a slew of follow-up content breaking them down in several ways. For this article, I'll be highlighting the top 10 ranked point guards.

[player_tooltip player_id='1225255' first='Tyler' last='Boston'] | Bullis/[program_tooltip program_id='2077005' first='Team' last='Thrill']

Boston is a heady, controlled floor general who understands how to orchestrate his team in a multitude of ways. He's effective at getting downhill, using burst off his back foot and can finish floaters with either hand. He's a capable shot-maker in space and an effective, dependable on-ball defender. Boston helped engineer Bullis to a 26-5 overall record and had helped [program_tooltip program_id='2077005' first='Team' last='Thrill'] remain undefeated this spring.

[player_tooltip player_id='1413515' first='Damien' last='Jones'] | [program_tooltip program_id='2078457' first='Team' last='Durant']

Jones is a tough-nosed lead guard who was the catalyst for a gritty Grace Brethren squad this season. He can adjust his approach as a result of how the defense is playing him. The 5'10 guard has underrated athleticism on drives that end with him around the rim, absorbs contact well and never hesitates to pull up his shorts and defend the full length of the floor. Jones remains on the lookout for a prep school to do a post-grad year for 2023-24.

[player_tooltip player_id='1366892' first='Kingston' last='Price Jr.'] | Severn/New World

Price is one of the more overlooked prospects in this class as a whole. He took advantage of any opportunity this high school season when his team faced off against an A Conference program and proved himself as a point guard who can carry the load for a team. He's a three-level scoring threat who can make the defense pay going left or right

[player_tooltip player_id='1259627' first='Machi' last='Chester'] | Gwynn Park/District BC

Chester fits the mold as a prospect trending more towards being a combo guard. Nevertheless, his production this spring has been impressive with [program_tooltip program_id='2076976' first='District' last='Basketball Club']. The 6'3 junior can bring a microwave scoring element that can change the course of a game and his athleticism appears to have improved to the point where he's a regular finisher above the rim in the open floor. Chester has always had the skill and craft to be a very intriguing prospect. Now heading into the summer, it'll be focusing on continued consistency that will cement his spot in the minds of coaches.

[player_tooltip player_id='1127307' first='Andrew' last='Dixon'] | Mount Carmel/[program_tooltip program_id='2077005' first='Team' last='Thrill']

The guard trio that Thrill has at their disposal with Dixon, Boston and 2025 Chance Mallory is dynamic to say the least. Dixon brings an on-ball presence who is extremely shifty and as a result, lives in the paint where he causes defenses to collapse. He's a proven nightmare utilizing floaters with high and soft touch or ones that are intended to use the glass for assistance, but Dixon's first intention on drives is to create for others. He's been effective operating in ball screens with either 2024 Derik Queen or 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1127310' first='Rob' last='Dockery']. Dixon's stock is on the rise.

[player_tooltip player_id='1536021' first='Tyrin' last='Bizzelle'] | Calvert Hall/Orange Life

Bizzelle quickly established himself as a capable lead guard in the BCL/MIAA A Conference this winter. The 6'1 southpaw guard sees the floor well and has the know-how of creating scoring opportunities for himself or others. When he gets the ball in his left hand, good things tend to happen on a routine basis. He can stop-and-pop on a dime in transition or score creatively around the basket as opposing bigs rotate and attempt to swat his shot away.

[player_tooltip player_id='1366897' first='Rulian' last='(RJ) Stewart'] | Georgetown Prep/[program_tooltip program_id='2077004' first='Team' last='Takeover'] National

Stewart is a confident player particularly when it comes to putting the ball in the basket. He plays with good pace and rhythm to his attack that helps him get his shots off from deep and from mid-range when operating off the dribble. He's good at attacking off the catch where he can use the threat of his quick first step to get his defender swaying in a certain direction before countering, getting to his spot and pulling up.

[player_tooltip player_id='1579098' first='Josiah' last='Legree'] | Loyola Blakefield/Kali Elite

Legree announced over the weekend on social media that he would follow his head coach from Parkville, Josh Czerski, to Loyola Blakefield for his senior season. Fresh off winning a Class 4A state title, Legree's name is starting to trend within the local LM D1 programs and for good reason. He has a natural, high-level feel for the game and like a lot of these guards on this list, can hurt you from a scoring or distributing perspective.

[player_tooltip player_id='1759620' first='Elwyne' last='Wordlaw'] | Frederick/Global Squad

Wordlaw is a prospect on the rise thanks to a tremendous high school season as he led the Cadets to a 26-1 overall record. Now with Global Squad on the UA Circuit, Wordlaw continues to show progression as an impactful lead guard against good competition. He can carve his way to the paint and play off of two feet, pull the trigger from three with accuracy and fits passes into small windows to those hanging in the dunker's spot as he drives.

[player_tooltip player_id='1579096' first='Logan' last='Suber'] | Mt. Zion Prep Academy/[program_tooltip program_id='2078456' first='DC' last='Premier']

Suber caught my attention during MZPA's run to the Maryland Private School State Championship. Suber more of an old-school point guard whose focus is setting the table for those around him. Standing 5'11-6'0, Suber has a chiseled frame that comes to light when contact comes his way on drives. He understands pace, is aware of weakside shooters for skip passes and is always looking to push the tempo.
