Team Mookie 16u traveled up i-65 to spend their weekend competing in the historic Run'N'Slam. Though the modern AAU event model is to exist in a giant warehouse split 16 ways, Run'N'Slam lives in a deliciously cramped building. Low ceilings. Beautiful Indiana high school memorabilia sits mere steps inside the front door. Unlike many, many soulless AAU venues the Fort Wayne building is a series of gyms. Visitors even get to see jerseys in the rafters.

Team Mookie 16u vs. EG 10

EG10 is based out of Indianapolis, named after Eric Gordon.

The two teams tipped after 10 PM E.S.T. [player_tooltip player_id='1318557' first='Tylan' last='Lewis'] played wonderful on-ball defense. He showed off the ability defend aggressively without fouling. He was very aware of his body on that end. Good body control.

[player_tooltip player_id='1947172' first='Landon' last='Bryant'] played with good energy. Though his shot was not consistently falling, the ball tended to find him, which indicates he either A) has great anticipation or B) is simply quicker than everyone else. It looks like B is pretty likely, especially in a game featuring some slow-footed guards. Bryant did hit a jumper late in the first half.

A two-handed fastbreak dunk by [player_tooltip player_id='1316860' first='Aaron' last='Mattingly'] inspired his team to play with even more hype. Mattingly is a fantastically athletic dual-sport athlete.

This 5'11” point guard [Hudson Horvath] is one of the more purely skilled perimeter threats in the class. Horvath is an excellent three-point shooter with the ability to create his own shots off of the dribble from beyond the arc. He also has some sneaky straight line quickness that he uses to penetrate when defenders are up on him trying to take away his threat to shoot. Indiana small college programs should absolutely begin the recruiting process with this guard playing with EG10 2025 in Fort Wayne this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='2292618' first='Preston' last='Wade'] is very thin, but not necessarily frail. The 6-foot-7 forward was competent around the rim. His hands are soft, and he looks to be excited about defending the perimeter if asked. It is not likely that he will be asked on this team, or perhaps any.

Team Mookie 16u won, 66-64.

Storm is a program based out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. It was founded probably 30+ years ago. UA Rise is kind of a feeder program for UnderArmour.

Team Mookie 16u vs. Mac Irvin FIRE

Mac Irvin FIRE hails from Chicago. Frankly, the program was stronger 6ish years back. The coaches took over a high school program in Chicago and recruit more for that team than AAU. The program used to Jabari Parker and Jahlil Okafor and Cliff Alexander at the SAME time. Jalen Brunson played for the FIRE. They used to be one of the best NIKE teams.
