The event featured teams from all over the east coast and was chock full of talent for all levels, with college coaches from all over in attendance.
Here’s a look at part one of some of the many standouts from the DMV teams in attendance.
Braden Sauritch | 5’11” PG | Global Squad HGSL 17U
Sauritch may not look the part at first glance, but he showed he can hoop with the best of them and was carving defenses up all weekend. The 5’11” lead guard has some sauce to him with a good handle and the ability to change speeds to get in the lane, he plays off of two when he gets downhill and has an array of finishes around the rim and he’s a good playmaker too. He can knock down shots from deep off the catch and off the bounce and he brings a level of toughness to his game too.
Jayden Brown Jayden Brown 6'3" | SG St. Anne’s Belfield | 2026 State VA | 6’6” WF | New World HGSL 17U
Brown was very good the first day when I watched New World, as the 6’6” wing showed a lot of tools that look intriguing moving forward. He’s a natural athlete that moves well and runs the floor well, he’s an explosive finisher and is strong enough to finish through contact and he showed the ability to make some shots from deep when he’s left open too. He competed on both ends of the floor and he made a lot of plays with his energy and high motor.
Geronimo Clark | 6’5” CG | New World HGSL 17U’25
Clark is a name that coaches in the DMV and Northeast should get familiar with now, as he has tons of upside and checks a lot of boxes moving forward. The 2025 combo guard has great size for his position and defensively he uses that size to get deflections and challenge shots. He handles the ball well and can see over the defense to make plays, he makes shots from multiple levels and can rise over defenders and hit tough shots and he’s a menace in transition and when he gets downhill.
Quinn Gorman | 6’8” PF | Team AKT
Gorman has dealt with a litany of injuries over the past year, but he’s gutting them out and having a good summer so far for an AKT team that took home a championship this past weekend. The 6’8” forward is very versatile as he has good ball skills on the perimeter and in transition at his size, and he’s a good athlete who can rebound and finish in the post too. He has the inside-out game a lot of coaches look for in a big man nowadays, and he should be on the radar for coaches in June and July.
Lukas Sekasi | 6’3” WG | Team AKT
Sekasi had himself a weekend for AKT, as the Jackson-Reed wing is emerging as one of the top shotmakers in the DMV. The 6’3” wing shot the cover off the ball from deep showing effortless range and a quick release, and that’s not all he did as he showed he can can create shots for himself and others too. He scored it from all three levels off the bounce, he showed good vision and passing ability as an unselfish playmaker and he moved well off the ball to get open.
Mekai Johnson | 6’5” WF | Team AKT
Johnson is emerging as a sleeper in the WCAC, and he’s going to be a problem if he chooses to take another year at the postgrad level and continue to develop. He checks the boxes physically and athletically for the next level, and he plays with great energy and a high motor on both ends of the floor. He’s a difference maker defensively particularly in the press, he does the dirty work and rebounds and he can score it efficiently in a number of different ways.
