The 6-foot-8 forward flat-out dominated the weekend on both ends of the floor while his competitiveness brought his team’s energy sky high. Offensively, Green showed another dimension to skill set game after game. His ability to in score in a multitude of ways made him seem unguardable. This lefty couldn’t be stopped down low, he was unphased by any contact in the post, even when double and tripled teamed. Green used his well-polished footwork, brute force, length, and leaping ability to score around anyone. Green controlled the rock well when putting the ball on the floor and getting downhill, he was scary in transition, always sprinting the floor making himself a lob threat, he was also a problem from long range where could get hot after seeing one fall. On the defensive side of things, Trey’Dez Green Trey’Dez Green 6’8″ | PF Zachary | 2024 State #54 Nation LA showed off a knack for timing his block and keeping them in bounds where his teammates could recover them. On the board, there was no boxing him out, he out-jumped everyone in his path and snatched rebounds out the sky the moment they bounced off the rim, high pointing the basketball as if it were a football.
Omar Gayle
Omar Gayle
One of the biggest game-changers and stock risers of the weekend was L.O.E. lead guard, Omar Gayle. He stood out as the best decision maker on the floor, from his shot selection to his facilitating Gayle always made the right play, a turnover from him was rare. He proved to be a high level offensive talent with an incredibly versatile three level bucket getting prowess, not to mention his scoring in transition and in isolation. Omar broke defenders down and took his man off the dribble with elite quickness, breakaway speed, and blow-by acceleration. Impressively efficient scoring abilities, it seemed like Omar didn’t miss, his touch at the rim and in the mid-range was impeccable. Gayle’s quick trigger release allowed him to get his shot off in any situation as he naturally faded away on his pull-up jumpers which made him very difficult to contest effectively. Great ball control and ability to get to his spots using his his instincts and sense of urgency for when to score.
Justin Jones
Justin Jones
Instant standout, it didn’t take long for Justin Jones to put his stamp on the game with his incredibly gifted athleticism, explosive leaping skills, and blistering speed. He proved to be a true high flying dunker while excelling at playing and finishing above the rim with ease. Jones showcased the highest vertical leap out of any division and he utilized this super power to not only rebound but to also flush putback dunks. This kid came flying through the lane out of nowhere and out-jumped players much taller than him on a consistent basis.
Ikennaya Muolokwu
Ikennaya Muolokwu
Ikennaya Muolokwu was a game changing high energy floor general who didn’t shy away from being a leader on the floor. The offense ran through him on multiple occasions, touching the ball on just about every play. Muolokwu orchestrated the offense each time he came down the court he made sure guys were in the correct spots and executed the set. Good balance between passing and scoring, Muolokwu is quick to tuhe corner on any defender due to his first step especially when receiving the ball on the wing where he was able to get into the teeth of the defense from the top of the key. Nice looking jumper, he drilled shots from mid-range pull-ups and beyond the arc with good elevation that assisted him greatly while shooting with a hand in his face.
DJ Williams
DJ Williams
DJ Williams played a very well-round game, he had stints where he was the best scorer, facilitator, and playmaker on the court. This Selfless player consistently looked to distribute the ball or set up a teammate before looking to create his own shot. Williams never allowed the defense to set up, utilizing his outstanding court vision while coming down the floor to scan the defense spotting openings and mismatches to quickly exploit. As a scorer, DJ Williams displayed unlimited range as he fluidly put up three-pointers from professional range without forcing or pushing his shot. Equally strong jump-shooter off the dribble and the catch, especially when he was given space DJ was near automatic.
