According to BetMGM there were 363 men’s college basketball teams in the 2022-23 season. Each Division 1 school has thirteen Head Count Scholarships. 363×13 equals 4,719 Division 1 Scholarships in men’s basketball.
When you think about how many high school basketball players and AAU players there are worldwide, there are not many scholarships to go around for Division 1!
Just because a player is on this list, that does not mean we are saying they are going D1. PHD just believes that they have the potential to get a scholarship at that level. On another note, we do not want to take anything away from any players that are playing or being recruited by D2, D3, NAIA, or JUCO schools. Division 1 is just the topic of this article.
