Deon Johnson
Deon Johnson
Johnson along with the rest of his team was playing up a year in this tournament, making their performances that much more impressive. Johnson stood out as a gifted athlete, using quickness and excellent jumping abilities to his advantage. Combine that with his great frame and he becomes a well-rounded prospect. He can score from all three levels and impact the game as a defender both on and away from the ball. His ability to maneuver through the defense is elite and Johnson is also a good ball-handler and playmaker.
Cooper Zachary
Cooper Zachary
Zachary was one of the most dominant playmakers I saw. He has fantastic vision and sets up his teammates exceptionally well. He’s a versatile facilitator. Pick and rolls, driving and dishing, outlet passes, you name it he’s got it. Zachary is a good ball-handler and can score too. He hits the three-ball at a high rate and can score on the inside, using crafty lay-ups and floaters. He takes high percentage shots and always makes the right play. Zachary plays with great tempo and poise.
Payton is a dynamic player and can impact the game in a number of ways. He’s athletic and has a good frame which allows him to be an effective rebounder and defender. He is a very talented scorer and can get his buckets in multiple ways. He’s a good shooter, is efficient around the rim, and can beat you off the dribble. Payton moves nicely and is a good ball-handler. He’s great in fastbreak situations runs the floor well, and uses his athleticism to play in the air as a finisher. Payton plays hard and is confident in his abilities.
The energy that Chase plays with really makes an impact on both sides of the floor. Defensively, he’s a good on-ball defender and makes it difficult for opposing ball-handlers to navigate the court. His hands and feet are always active, and he gets a lot of steals. Chase loves turning defense into offense and pushing in transition where he excels as both a facilitator and scorer. Offensively, I really like how he controls the pace for his team. He can get inside the lane with ease and is great at drawing the help D and hitting the open man. Chase is a crafty finisher and always makes the right play on his attacks.
Williams is a very efficient scorer that plays with great physicality. He uses his body well to help him succeed as a scorer, rebounder, and defender. I like the patience and decision making he displays in the paint. He makes excellent use of ball-fakes and knows just how to get the defense to react. Williams is extremely productive inside the paint and does a great job of battling through and absorbing contact. He shines with his back-to-the-basket and favors his right-shoulder. Defensively, Williams has good rotations and wall-ups.
Something I really liked about Doubrava’s game was the speed he played at. He knows how to beat the defense with changes of pace, and it seems as if he always knows when to attack and when to shoot. He shoots it with a lot of confidence, and he should as he can fill it up quickly. Doubrava has fantastic rhythm to his jumper. He elevates, has good rotation, and nice arc. Doubrava is also a solid finisher around the rim and shows good effort as a rebounder.
