Premier Spring Showcase: 17U Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Time to recap some of the standout 17U players from over the weekend at the Premier Spring Showcase in Bellevue. This group is almost a 50/50 split of 2024s and unsigned 2023s. Take a look, as there is some real talent across all positions here.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1612206' first='Aidan' last='Bews'] | ECBA Team Johnson | 2024</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bews is a big-time player to know in his class and he continued to prove it this past weekend. He buried a few shots from downtown, looking smooth and natural letting them fly from deep. He had poise on the blocks, feeling pressure well and passing back out, but also showing some skill attacking the hoop putting the ball on the floor from the blocks or the perimeter.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Romeeko Roberson</strong> | Renton Select | 2023</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Roberson is a good athlete who used exceptional burst to get going downhill, showed strength working through traffic inside, and finished under control at the hoop. I saw him a bit early on last high school season, and he was excellent at defending the ball as well as coming off his man to make big plays with his athleticism.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Parker Plowman </strong>| EBC Elite | 2024</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Plowman really solidified EBC's attack with key passes inside, some nice floor stretching from corner to corner, and reliable ballhandling up top. He's a steady player who has the potential to score and pass from the point spot.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>David Wacenske</strong> | South WA Select | 2024</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Energy was this guy's calling card this weekend. He's a hard worker that was rewarded with numerous buckets in transition. He was active in passing lanes, leading to a couple of steals, and showed good fight on the glass to bring down the boards and get his team out and running.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1440101' first='Shane' last='Skidmore'] | Spokane Flight | 2024</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This guy is a physical post who is patient when working from the blocks, knowing his strength is an advantage and just picking when to bully his man. He has good fight throughout the play and constantly goes in for second and third chances at the rim.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1450501' first='Henry' last='Sandberg'] | Spokane Flight | 2024</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Sandberg is a multi-dimensional scorer and he continued to show his ability to pour in buckets from all three levels this weekend. He's been a big stock riser over the past year and it's largely in part to his precision attacking defenders with his footwork and shot creation.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1390807' first='Josiah' last='Pierre'] | EBC Elite | 2023</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>His length is a big draw, allowing him to shoot over tight defense with an exceptionally high release, and helping him reach plays on defense other guys just wouldn't be able to get to. Pierre scored well from all over this weekend and plays the game at his pace when the ball is in his hands.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Trey Bullock</strong> | EBC Elite | 2023</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Bullock was a constant presence causing problems for defenders as he found his way into the heart of the defense and was an efficient playmaker and shooter. He also showed great defensive anticipation with an ability to rack up blocks and steals as a guard with a longer reach.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1450485' first='Evan' last='Stinson'] | Spokane Flight | 2024</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Stinson is a calculated scorer with a variety of moves and is really at his best from the mid-range and in because of his footwork with the ball. He also has a great feel for the game and when he is surrounded by guys that can score, can really be a dynamic playmaker.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
