This is simply what we do at Prep Hoops Indiana. Memorial Day weekend was a perfect time to make the trip down to Memphis for Nike EYBL Session 4. While taking in the action at the Memphis Sports & Events Center I primarily focused on covering the Indy Heat programs plus the other EYBL programs that feature Indiana high school prospects. Let’s dive on in and recap the day as it pertains to our Hoosier state prospects.
Indy Heat 17u
In the absence of five-star guard Jalen Haralson Jalen Haralson 6'7" | PG La Lumiere | 2025 #8 Nation IN (Fishers H.S. 2025), who made the cut to 18 at the Team USA U16 workout, Indy Heat 17u fought hard while being a little shorthanded. In their first game of the day, Purdue commit Kanon Catching (Brownsburg H.S. 2024) went off for 34 points on just 20 shots, but they fell to Paul George Elite 85-78. The 6’7″ Catchings displayed his impressive shot-making ability with some really tough jump shots off of the bounce. Meanwhile, 6’7″ four-star forward Trent Sisley Trent Sisley 6'8" | PF Heritage Hills | 2025 State #47 Nation IN (Heritage Hills H.S. 2025) added 13 points in the loss.
Despite holding a halftime lead, Indy Heat let another one slip away in the evening against Team Melo 17u. Kanon Catchings Kanon Catchings 6'8" | PF Overtime Elite (GA) | 2024 #31 Nation GA was hot once again scoring 12 points in the first half, but it wasn’t enough to hold on. The Purdue commit did his part though finishing with 19 points on 8-11 shooting and going 3-5 from beyond the arc. They would go on to lose 67-62.
Indy Heat 16u
It was a tough day for Indy Heat 16u dropping a pair of games to very, very talented teams. In their morning game they went up against Cooper Flagg and Maine United 16u. Flagg, the #2 ranked prospect in the Class of 2025, showed off his wide array of skills finishing with 27 points, 17 rebounds, and 11 assists. It was a tough matchup for 6’8″ forward Kellen Pickett Kellen Pickett 6'9" | PF Blackhawk Christian | 2025 State #108 Nation IN (Blackhawk Christian 2025) going up against one of the best players in the country, but the up-and-coming prospect finished with a respectable 11 points and 5 rebounds of his own.
Against Team Durant in the evening, Indy Heat 16u actually held a lead midway through the second half but let it slip away for a 65-45 loss. Jaymen Townsend Jaymen Townsend 6'6" | SF Marion | 2025 State #248 Nation IN (Marion H.S. 2025) led the way in that one with 11 points.
Indy Heat 15u
Admittedly, I gave up on this game pretty early on. Indy Heat 15u was down by 15+ points less than 10 minutes into the game and it appeared that WhyNot 15u was on their way to a blowout victory. However, after going back over to check the score I noticed it was close, and Indy Heat ended up pulling out a wild 69-67 comeback victory. E.J. Hazelett III (Franklin Central H.S. 2026) continued his strong spring with an 18-point, 9-rebound performance to fuel the come-from-behind win. Dynamic left-handed guard DeZhon Hall (Tindley H.S. 2026) added 12 points while athletic 6’6″ forward Brennan Miller Brennan Miller 6'7" | PF Lawrence North | 2026 State IN (Lawrence North H.S. 2026) chipped in 11 points. This team is really talented and displayed some real toughness on Saturday night.
Meanstreets 17u
Meanstreets split their two games on Saturday winning their first one at the buzzer 61-60 over Phenom U before falling 65-48 to Team Takeover. K.J. Windham K.J. Windham 6'3" | PG Ben Davis | 2024 State #137 Nation IN (Ben Davis H.S. 2024) is the Indiana native on this squad and he has had a fantastic spring as one of the top three-point shooters on the EYBL Circuit. Unfortunately, this was a rare off shooting day as Windham went just 1-11 from beyond the arc. However, the lefty guard did a good job of distributing to his teammates in the absence of his typical scoring punch.
Brad Beal Elite 15u
We’ve known for almost a year now that Jaylan Mitchell (Evansville Reitz H.S. 2027) was a very, very special prospect. However, with essentially each viewing, it becomes even more clear just how elite he truly is as a talent. The 6’7″ skilled forward had it cooking in a hard fought 59-58 victory over NW Rotary Rebels 15u. Mitchell finished with a game-high 25 points and 8 rebounds while finishing 5-12 from beyond the arc.
