We had the opportunity to watch a lot of good players who are operating under the radar. In addition, we watched several up and coming young players who were playing up in the high school divisions during the weekend. Here is a look at a group of those players from the Class of 2027 that caught our eye.
Scottie Adkinson Scottie Adkinson 6'3" | SG Webster Groves | 2027 State MO (Brad Beal Elite 14U): A 6’2″ guard who is one of the most talented players in the 2027 class statewide. The young lefty is a dynamic athlete who attacks the basket with tenacity and he can finish with either a twisting layup in the lane or a dunk. His escape moves are excellent and he can also get a bucket from all three levels. He will attend Webster Groves.
*******
Evan Via (St. Louis Kings 14U): A 5’8″ point guard who has an impressive overall skill set for the position. He’s very quick and shifty on the dribble and he is always under control. His basketball IQ is high. The young lefty has good burst to get into the lane and can finish. He also has a pure shooting stroke from 3-point range. whether off the catch or off the dribble. He will attend Ladue.
******
Dey Lucas (Brad Beal Elite 14U): A 6’7″ forward who has impressive length and mobility. He was looking to block and alter shots on defense and he runs the court very well in transition. He has a nice shooting touch from the perimeter and he can operate in the pick and pop. He can also flash into the high post and knock down the 15 footer. He will attend Lutheran South.
********
Eric Neal (St. Louis Kings 14U): A 5’7″ point guard with excellent speed and quickness and he knows how to play. He did a nice job of penetrating and kicking out to open shooters or pulling up for the short jumper. He is a blur in the open court in the transition game and he can also knock down the open 3-pointer.
******
Will Foulk (Brad Beal Eite 14U): A talented young point guard who has nice handles and a very good feel for the game. He gets to where he wants to go without being sped up. He moves well without the ball to knock down the 3-pointer and he has a nice floater when he gets into the lane.
*******
Kyren Evans (St. Louis Kings 14U): A talented combo guard who is about 5’9 or 5’10, but he plays much bigger because of his great motor and activity. He is an excellent rebounder for his size and he will hustles for as many loose balls as he can get to. He is also a nice passer on the move. He has quick hands on defense to get strips and steals. He will attend Hazelwood East.
