When it came time to put together the 17U All Star teams from the Jayhawk Jam in Lawrence, there were just too many good performances to pick from. To recognize as many players as possible, we restricted the All Star teams to 2024s.
But some of the very best players in the 17U category were 2023s and 2025s. So we’ll give them each a special look.
Here are 2023s who impressed at the Jayhawk Jam (in alphabetical order):
Blevins missed the second day of the Jayhawk Jam due to injury. But he really impressed on Day One for his versatile game and his playmaking. He’s a high-energy forward who really impacted the game when he was in. His intense athletic style was captured in one sequence when he absolutely demolished a shot by an opposing guard 20 feet from the goal, then recoverd the blocked shot and took it to the other end for a highlight dunk. He can shoot from deep, penetrate and score or dish, and defend at a high level.
In a tournament that featured a lot of high-quality bigs, Churchill deserves to be mentioned among the best. He was smooth and efficient scoring in the paint off the dribble with a variety of shot angles. He’s long and athletic and plays under control. Despite the up-tempo style of his team, Churchill makes smart, efficient decisions with the ball.

A high-energy guard, Jones is a scorer from the point, able to create his own shot anytime. Jones isn’t a big guy, but he has great quickness and long arms, which combined with his super handle can get him shots in the midrange and at the goal. Jones creates with a brilliant crossover and with a stepback jumper. He buried a ton of shots over the weekend.

Speaking of scorers, Lagers (pictured) was a bucket-getter for Oklahoma Showtime. He’s a big, powerful forward who can bully his way in the paint, but he’s most dangerous filling it up from deep. He was called upon to guard some of the really good bigs at Lawrence and held his own. He blocks out and bodies up opponents. Lagers was one of the best shooters at the Jayhawk Jam.
One of the most impressive athletes at the Jayhawk Jam, Morrical-Palmer is remarkably springy. He combines his length and ball skills to put together a remarkably versatile game. His best plays come when he handles the ball in the open court, gobbling up space with long strides and nice shiftiness for his size. He is unselfish, giving the ball up to open teammates. But around the goal, he can simply leap over people to rebound or dunk with ease.
