Havoc in the Heartland: Scotty B's Saturday Notebook

Havoc in the Heartland continued on Saturday with a full slate.  We covered a ton of games and teams at multiple venues.  Here we break down day 2 in Havoc in the Heartland: Scotty B's Saturday Notebook!   Great Lakes Warriorz 17U Start Day Strong   In the first game of the day we caught the Great Lakes Warriorz 51-45 win over EG10.  Bradley Eziuka was the star for the squad out of Michigan.  The Canton (MI) 6'4” wing was in attack mode from the jump putting pressure on the rim for slashes, fouls, and put backs.  Also liked what we saw from Mark Stein.  The Livonia Stevenson (MI) 6'4” 2024 small forward can really shoot it off the catch with a quick release and plus size.    For EG10 it was all about Jordan Lomax.  The Avon (IN) product netted 16 points in the loss.  Wiry two guard has such a knack for getting to the foul line with his smooth handles.   Brad Beal Elite 15U Has High-Major Young Prospects   It was a dominant showing for the Brad Beal Elite EYBL 15U squad.  They won 59-45 over Team Teague Felder and followed that up with a 74-50 victory against Team FEED Sports.  BBE was led by their 5-star and top 10 national prospect JJ Andrews.  The 6'6” small forward is a 2026 wing from Little Rock Christian Academy (AR).  He was phenomenal all day including dropping 19 points in their opener.  The southpaw wing is a physical slasher that wins with his explosive first step, burst getting past man, and finishing above the rim with force.  Threw down some nasty dunks.  High-motor player that excels in transition and has star written all over him!  Their second best prospect on the 15U is actually a 2027 playing up.  Originally from Olney, IL 6'7” combo forward Jaylan Mitchell has size, strength, and skill that might make him one of the premier prospects nationally.  He is going to attend Evansville Reitz (IN) next season and expect more offers to follow as he already has one from Evansville.  Can stretch the floor with his shooting, quickness with the ball putting it on the deck, and rim runs with ease.  Notched 16 points in their first win.  John Burroughs (MO) 2026 6'9” center Sheek Pearson has a lot of physical tools that intrigue with his length and projectable frame.  Long and lanky post that runs the floor.  Bit raw, but potential is through the roof!  Cape Central (MO) 6'6” forward TySeanDre Edwards caught our attention in their second win.  Seals on the block, euro steps off the bounce, and threw down alley oops.   Closed Gym Scores Win Over INB Elite 17U   The Wisconsin squad Closed Gym came into Indiana and picked up another win against a top independent team from the Hoosier state 81-72 against INB Elite.  Really liked what we saw from Lake County Lutheran (WI) 6'5” small forward Samuel Hans who was lights out with his shooting.  Drained four triples along with an array of mid-range jumpers, crafty takes, and plus passing in a 19 point outing.  Wisconsin Lutheran 6'3” wing Trey Raabe was an excellent glue guy being scrappy around the hoop on glass along with knocking in shots.  Nicolas Dalland out of Whitnall (WI) also contributed in the victory with his rebounding and three point shooting.   Brebeuf (IN) 2026 point guard Austin Ford impressed playing up for INB Elite.  The smaller guard is a crafty finisher, presents a sound mid-range game, and pushes well off his defense.  Joey Heaston of Northwest Christian (IN) proved to be a plus 2024 shot maker from distance throughout the day including in this one going for 14 points on four threes.  Their top prospect is Brebeuf (IN) 2024 shooting guard Reis Butcher.  Silky smooth shot creator that can hit from deep and pulling up in the mid-range with ease.  He had 10 points.   Brad Beal Elite 16U Gets Tested Early But Pushes Through Behind Elite Talent   In both 16U games Brad Beal Elite EYBL 16U got pushed in the first half, but ultimately prevailed 56-45 against Team Teague followed by a 72-52 W over EG10.  They were actually down 30-17 against Team Teague before they went on a massive run that would seemingly never end.  Well balanced squad.  Their top 2025 prospect is Lloyd Memorial (KY) 6'8” power forward EJ Walker.  We have been fans of Walker for a while now!  His combination of elite skill, feel, and size are tremendous.  Has stretches where he takes over putting it on the deck from the mid-post, spin moves on the block, and has great touch in the paint.  Inside in the first game he got major help from Montgomery County center Clayton Parker.  The 6'7” post finished dump offs, ran the floor, and hit the glass.  Top long term prospect might be Trinity (KY) 6'5” 2025 small forward Jayden Johnson.  Wing has broad shoulders and is a bucket!  Three level scorer with the strength to take a bump in paint.  In their second game we liked what we saw from their 2024 backcourt of Trey Williams (Vashon) and Zyree Collins (St. Mary's).  Williams is a plus marksmen from three while Collins has off the charts IQ as a floor general.  Sleeper here could be Louisville Western (KY) small forward Elijah Clinton who brought the energy on both ends all day long!   Horton Impressive for Team Teague 16U against EYBL Squad   Richmond (IN) 6'5” wing Cedric Horton more than held his own against BBE as he notched 16 points in the loss.  Projectable 2025 wing with a wiry frame that should continue to grow.  Slick ball handler that wins off the bounce for acrobatic finishes along with a clean looking stroke from three.  Evansville Harrison (IN) forward Jesiah Sloss has a quick and explosive second jump on the glass.  Excels at getting on the offensive boards for second chance points.   EG10 17U Scores Rivalry Win Against INB Elite   Always great to see two of the top independent teams in a city go head to head in their back yard.  We got that here as EG10 won 67-58 against INB Elite.  Avon (IN) two guard Jordan Lomax dropped 25 points in the win getting whatever he wanted whenever he wanted.  Feathery three point game was working, but it was once again his knack for slithering in the lane for conversions or trips to the charity stripe.  Also showed improved passing feel.  Inside AP Mitchell is a wide bodied five man that is light on his feet as he notched 9 points.    Joey Heaston once again had a big performance for INB Elite going for 15 points.   Ball and Richardson Show Promise for EG10 16U   Despite falling to BBE it was a great first half showing from EG10 as they were right there with one of the top 15U squads in the country.  Louisville Ballard (KY) 5'8” point guard Nate Richardson had a stellar half as the guard was taking it right at the defense for scoop shots and can hit spot up threes.  Also liked what we saw from Maconaquah (IN) is a wing Josiah Ball that presents size at 6'6” scoring in a variety of ways.  Dump offs, slashes, threes, and in transition.   Next Level Basketball vs Pocket City 17U Fun Duel   This was one of the closest games we saw as Next Level Basketball topped Pocket City 86-82.  Lutheran West (OH) guard Dylan Bartchak was stellar in the win being able to score from all three levels effectively.  Power wing Luther Darisaw from Akron East (OH) put it on the deck and won at the cup time after time with his burst off the dribble.  Matthew Fahey out of Reimer Road Christian (OH) shot it well from distance especially in the first half.  AJ Bruce from Lutheran East (OH) showed promise as a floor general in the 2024 class that handled it well and has a clean jumper.   For Pocket City it was Cayden Gehlhausen who jumped off the floor.  The 2025 6'7” Evansville North (IN) product was super active in the paint having a nose for the ball and finishing dump offs.  At the point Chris Glover from Evansville Bosse was another standout 2025 with his strength at the lead guard spot, passing, and ability to get to the charity stripe.   Indiana Ambition Size and Skill Prevails Against All HEART 16U   This game seemed much closer than the 73-60 final that Indiana Ambition won by over All H.E.A.R.T.  Jay Summitt (Evansville Harrison, IN) is a 6'3” well built two guard that had a fantastic 15-18 foot game draining them one after another while adding several threes as well.  Solid rebounder.  Xander Niehaus (Castle, IN) is a 6'3” two guard that can really shoot it from three notching four from distance while also displaying passing feel.  Keep an eye on Carmi (IL) post Mitchell Edwards.  Like the size at 6'7” along with his ability to stretch the floor.   Kings (OH) 2025 two guard Tommy Clark had one of the top plays of the day when he took his man off the bounce and rose up for a monster one handed dunk.  The athleticism pops as does the three point shot.  Sleeper out of Ohio!  They had a little old school Jason Williams “White Chocolate” point guard in Athens McGillis from Covington Catholic (KY).  The 5'8” floor general passes with a ton of flair and that was on full display for the 2026 playing up an age level!   Indy Heat Competitive Greatness Defensive Effort Stellar   Last game of the day we headed to Noblesville West to see Indiana Heat Competitive Greatness 16U show out in a 72-40 over Mike Glennon Elite.  It wasn't close from the start as they opened up 19-2 and never looked back.  The story was their relentless defense and shooting.  Their constant ball pressure led by point guard Kyson Neddenriep was relentless causing turnover after turnover.  Evan McIntire was fantastic as the two guard connected on four triples along with a ton of scores or dimes off steals finishing with 18 points.  Aden Daughtery is a lefty with a smooth shot from three, crashed the offensive glass, and had strength to convert through contact for 17 points.   Bright spot for Mike Glennon Elite was the play of Brother Rice guard Max Justic.  Creative scoring guard that had euro steps, floaters, and spinning layups in his bag for 12 points.
