The most talented player I saw on the night, Moy was showing off his incredible natural ability and athleticism in a tough battle with Nova-Germany. Moy has impressive ball skills and made a few plays where he got low to the ground and kept his dribble alive to finish at the rim. With a transition slam dunk and a couple flashy passes, the impact Moy made on Friday night was huge for his team. One of the best prospects to come out of the Youngstown area recently, Moy has a lot of traits that will have college programs intrigued. His biggest area of focus this summer will be knocking down perimeter shots and being consistent with his production.
Mallory has been a steady riser this spring with OBC, securing a starting spot at the center position and making an impact every weekend this spring. A big body in the paint, you’ll need to be physical against Mallory to prevent him from bullying you in the post. When he gets doubled, Mallory has the vision to make the right pass to a perimeter player and will score quickly against switches. Even knocking down an open 3-pointer, Mallory is showing some intriguing skills for small college programs to take a look at.
Gamble made a name for himself last weekend as one of our other writers caught him dominating at this same gym. Tonight, it was my turn to see the steps Gamble has taken since the high school season. Always been a guard with good pace, Gamble get play in the in between area that’s so key at the next level. An active player, Gamble just finds himself involved in a lot of plays on both ends of the court. Whether it’s active help defense, a swing pass, loose ball, Gamble is just doing something on the court often. A small college name to track, Gamble projects as one of central Ohio’s top senior guards next season.

Haywood was another Nova prospect making a big impact in a marquee Friday night showdown. With an undersized squad, Haywood had to defend Obc’s biggest player for most of the time he was on the court. With his explosive leaping ability, he soared for a couple blocked shots. It was the offensive end where he made his impact with his quickness and ability to hit shots with a high arcing release. Haywood has made some strides over the past couple months and should be attracting small college interest throughout the summer and heading into his senior season.

The first game of the day provided intense action all the way to the final buzzer as Midwest Basketball Club Sayre/Maurer held off Miller Factory. Brown impressed with a couple nice takes off the bounce where he got all the way to the rack and finished. Numerous impressive passes by Brown also helped the ball move quickly for his team. Defensively, Brown was active against opposing ball handlers and causing chaos. Combine that with some hot shooting from Noah Hess Noah Hess 6’0″ | CG Jonathan Alder | 2025 State OH and rebounding from Will Sims and it was enough to come away with a victory.
My second game of the day was not competitive but a common theme from the first game was a Delaware Hayes guard making an impact for a Midwest Basketball Club squad in a win. Banaszak did a good job throwing the ball ahead to start transition opportunities where his team got great looks. A capable shooter off the bounce, defenses won’t want to leave him open with the ball in his hands. Production early and consistently when he was on the court, Banaszak was the leader for his teams’ impressive offensive charge that also saw Roman Crosby and Logan Groeger join the party with impressive buckets.
