The 15u pools were deep, talented and featured a variety of skill sets. Looking over my notes from The Stage, I narrowed it down to 55 15u prospects that stood out to me. Keep in mind that I can’t see every team and every game, so there will be additional players that I’m sure deserve that accolades as well. All that being said, welcome to Part 1 of our look at the 55 Faces of 15u at The Stage!

The powerful post really played well on Saturday. He worked hard off the block and showed that he could put his back to the basket, back down his defender, and score the basketball. Horvath read size mismatches and demanded the ball when they were there. I liked the touch he showed on the ball as well.
Mason Dumpert
Mason Dumpert
Dumpert was very solid when I saw him at the The Stage. He was creative and hard to contain with the ball in his hands. Dumpert was able to slice through the defense, scored in a few different ways, and seemed comfortable playing through contact.
Andrew Wilber
Andrew Wilber
Wilber was one of my favorite players to watch over the weekend. He’s one of the grittiest and toughest kids in 15u rosters. His strength and natural recognition of positioning for boards helped him pick up a ton of rebounds when I watched him. Definitely over 10 in the game that I saw. Wilber plays so much bigger than his height.
Avery Pequignot
Avery Pequignot
Pequignot came out to play from the opening tip when I watched him at The Stage. His play early helped set the tone for an eventual victory. Pequignot has a really nice looking jumper with definite 3 point range, but he’s also not afraid to mix it up in the lane and get buckets off boards.
Washington showed a lot of athleticism and upside as a player and prospect. He’s comfortable playing at a fast pace and can get down the floor in a hurry. Washington showed off a pretty spin move for a bucket. He’ll be a player to keep an eye on as grassroots season unfolds.
Peyton Rhinehart
Peyton Rhinehart
Rhinehart was able to turn some heads with his play at The Stage. He had a solid and consistent jumper that he was able to hit from beyond the arc. Rhinehart could bury it from corner to corner and didn’t need much time to fire the shot off.
Hibner is off to a very fast start this grassroots season. This isn’t the first event that he’s gone off in, and most certainly won’t be his last from the looks of things. Hibner finds buckets. That simple. He knows how to get open with movement, positioning and handles. Once he got a look at the rim, it was game over.
Claxton was a highlight of the day early on Saturday. The diversity of his skill set stood out. He was a terrific passer, that didn’t have to rely on flash. Instead he got the ball where it needed to go in the most efficient way possible. Claxton looked comfortable passing on the move as well. I also liked his ability to shake a defender and score as well as defend the point.
Drew Coombs
Drew Coombs
Coombs was outstanding the PH Circuit even over the weekend. First thing first, it’s very obvious that he’s a leader. He didn’t watch from the bench when he wasn’t on the floor, but instead stayed active with the game. Coombs was one of the better deep ball shooters that I saw on Saturday. His range extends well beyond the arc, making defenses pick him up very early.
Downs is a player that’s going to improve a ton as grassroots season carries on. You could see him get used to the speed and strength of the game as the weekend carried on. He was that gritty do whatever the team needs type of player that every coach needs and wants. Downs was able to score at the rim both off rebounds and straight line drives.
Cole Lambert
Cole Lambert
Lambert definitely caught my attention with his play at The Stage. He buried a pull up triple and was also able to put the ball on the floor, attack the rim, and draw a foul. Lambert showed the ability to throw a nice touch feed to a teammate in a scoring position.
