FAQ: What is the traditional way? Instead of honoring the five best seasons, the traditional way spreads it out to two guards, two traditional forwards, and a big. And in this way the players that don’t have the ball in their hands as much get a bit more of a boost. Here is our Minnesota All State Team in the NBA/Traditional past way (and that way only honors 15 players)
First Team All State
Guard: Nasir Whitlock Nasir Whitlock 6'2" | PG Delasalle | 2023 State MN of DeLaSalle (sr). The 2023 Mr. Basketball award winner, led his team to the state title game, signed with Lehigh.
Guard: Hayden Tibbits Hayden Tibbits 5'11" | PG Wayzata | 2023 State MN of Wayzata (sr). Point guard of the state champion, Mr. Basketball finalist, committed to UST.
Forward: Grayson Grove Grayson Grove 6'9" | PF Alexandria Area | 2024 State #171 Nation MN (jr). Grove was that inside-out side perimeter dual threat player taking his team to the final four in state and earning first team Class AAA All State.
Forward: Jackson McAndrew Jackson McAndrew 6'10" | PF Wayzata | 2024 State #24 Nation MN of Wayzata (jr). The state championship junior played next to Isaiah Habte Isaiah Habte 6'6" | PF Wayzata | 2023 State MN and was a first team Class AAAA All State player.
Center: Nolan Winter Nolan Winter 7'0" | PF Lakeville North | 2023 State #98 Nation MN of Lakeville North (sr). A Mr. Basketball final five finalist, led his team to the final four, signed with Wisconsin. The Class AAAA Player of the Year.
Second Team All State
Guard: Casmir Chavis Casmir Chavis 6'2" | PG Park Center | 2024 State #170 Nation MN of Park Center (jr). The top player on a Park Center team that was number one throughout the regular season. One of the top two junior prospects in Minnesota.
Guard: Isaac Asuma Isaac Asuma 6'3" | PG Cherry | 2024 State #102 Nation MN of Cherry (jr). The Class A Player of the year took his team to the state tournament. Committed to Minnesota.
Forward: CJ O’Hara of Park Center (sr). O’Hara was on the top ten list for Mr. Basketball as he helped PC be the number one ranked Class AAAA team throughout the regular season.
Forward: Aeron Stevens Aeron Stevens 6'7" | PF Plainview-Eligin-Millville | 2023 State MN of PEM (sr). Class AA First Team All State player had many clutch games including beating Lake City earning a spot at state. Signed with Southwest Minnesota State.
Center: Boden Kapke Boden Kapke 6'11" | C Holy Family | 2023 State #153 Nation MN of Holy Family (sr). Boden gets the Joel Embid honor of being an MVP candidate (final five Mr. Basketball) but second team because there is only one center spot. Signed with Butler. The Class AA Player of the Year.
Third Team All State
Guard: Daniel Freitag Daniel Freitag 6'1" | PG Breck | 2024 State #142 Nation MN of Bloomington Jefferson (jr). One of top scorers in the state earned first team Class AAAA All State honors.
Guard: Isaiah Hagen Isaiah Hagen 6'3" | PG Orono | 2023 State MN of Orono (sr). Hagen led Orono to third place in state and was a Class AAA First Team All State player. Committed to Northern State.
Forward: Will Opsahl Will Opsahl 6'8" | SF Goodhue | 2023 State MN of Goodhue (sr). First team all state for Class A, Will had his team in the top ten all year. Signed with Minnesota State-Mankato.
Forward: Jonathan Mekonnen Jonathan Mekonnen 6'8" | PF Eastview | 2024 State #201 Nation MN of Eastview (jr). Mekonnen led Eastview in scoring and took the team to the state tournament. one of the top 6-7 juniors in the state.
Center: Patrick Bath Patrick Bath 6'9" | C Totino Grace | 2023 State MN of Totino-Grace (sr). The most consistent player for the Eagles all season long, lead his team to a title First Team All Class AAA.
