Top programs from Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama, Indiana, Kentucky and Arkansas will battle it out, showcase style in a gym full of scouts and media alike. Here are a few guys that are already on my radar heading into the weekend.
If you follow high school basketball in the southeast, chances are you’ve Jett Montgomery Jett Montgomery 6’1″ | PG Independence | 2024 State TN ‘s name a few times. The 2024 guard has been lighting up grassroots events for years and I expect nothing less from him this weekend in Nashville. He’s coming off a big high school season at Independence where he averaged 24 PPG and shot 43% from behind the arc. Montgomery is a dynamic scorer that knows how to create off the dribble and get to his spots. I won’t be surprised if we see Montgomery go for 25+ in a game this weekend.

Jeremiah Gary has made a statement through the first few weekends of the spring with Rocket City Suns and he’ll look to keep the ball rolling this weekend in Nashville. Gary is a 6’3 wing with some eye-popping bounce, multi-level scoring ability, and a willingness to distribute the ball. He anticipates passes well on defense and turns steals into fast break dunks. With Jeremiah Gary and JJ Jeter leading the charge, I think the Rocket City Suns are a team to lookout for this weekend.

I’m excited to get my first live look at Jack Halls who will be coming down from Indiana with Grand Park Premier. Halls is a 6’8 forward that can stretch the floor and burn opponents from the three-point line. He’s long and fairly athletic, going to dunk most dump-offs around the paint. While there’s still a lot to be learned this weekend about Halls, I’m intrigued by the film and the chatter I’ve been hearing.

Kentucky Future will make the short drive down this weekend and with them will be one of the best sharpshooters from the bluegrass state, Indred Whitaker. If teams don’t key on Whitaker, he could easily get hot and rope off a handful of threes. Whitaker put up some impressive numbers, assists and rebounds too, during the high school season and I’m interested to see what kind of production he’ll have on the spring circuit.

Elijah Walton is a name that will certainly be on my radar this weekend, a long and athletic wing with tremendous upside. The lefty wing is a versatile scorer and will find a way to get his points. He hits the boards hard and is capable of a double-double most times out. Walton’s all-around impact on the game will be important for NYBA as they’ll square off against some of the top 16u teams in the event.
