PH NorCal was in Arizona April 21-23 for the first live viewing period for grassroots basketball. The WCE Cactus Classic had a good number of NorCal Prospects who displayed their skills, and talent in front of scouts and college coaches. Here's a group of 2024's from NorCal who we thought played well while watching.

[player_tooltip player_id='1891748' first='Andrew' last='McDowell'] 6'3 Guard, Esface College Prep, Serra HS

He's a solid guard who plays well off two feet after driving into the paint. He'll attack and finish from various angles along the perimeter including the baseline. He's a strong finisher in transition. At 6'3 he's a rebounding guard, a good passer, and alert defender, who helps and plays the passing lanes.

Alexander Naber 6'1 Guard, Esface College Prep, Serra HS

He's a stocky guard who put on a display of how you play off two feet when you get into the paint. He was deliberate, using hard dribbles and his body, planting with balance, knowing he had time to pass, or shoot which left bigs frozen. He can hit short jumpers.

Angelo Ghattas 6'4 W/F, Esface College Prep, Serra HS.

At 6'4 he's an excellent rebounder. He's a tenacious defender who does a good job of boxing out, then going after rebounds, he used his long arms for a few tap ins. He has good hands to catch, and finish on the cut to the basket. He can knock down the corner 3.

David Baron 6'5 F, Esface College Prep, Menlo Atherton HS

He was sort of the big man on this team. He has a long reach, with good activity on the defensive side working in the paint to get rebounds and defend. He scored inside taking it up strong and on the put backs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1510768' first='Jeremiah' last='Collins'] 6'3 G/W, Dream Sports Academy, Pittsburg HS

A versatile prospect with a good upside to his game. He had good shot selection, and was efficient putting the ball in the basket. He's a top notch defender when locked in, he can guard multiple positions. His ball handling, passing and decision making are on the upswing. He'll get rebounds. He hit the short jumper and knocked down the 3ptr.

[player_tooltip player_id='1510901' first='Gregory' last='Piotrowski'] 6'6 PF/C, Dream Sports Academy, Franklin HS

He has steadily improved his game as a post player. His improved footwork and use of his body stood out when he worked from the low block. His turnaround jumper, and spin move was working. He had good balance playing off two feet, going strong for rebounds, and put back points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1806776' first='Kayshaun' last='Hunte'] 6'0 PG, Dream Sports Academy, Pittsburg HS

A speedy guard with good handles to put pressure on the defense. He pushes fast in transition, has the quickness, and a good crossover to get by defenders and into the paint. He shows patience at the top. His passing and decision making are improved, he can pull up on the dime, and drop a 3 when it's there.

Westley Young 6'2 Guard, Dream Sports Academy, Pittsburg HS

Young looks like he can be a quality defender, he has the tools to be a disruptor. His long arms, lateral movement, quick hands forced multiple turnovers working up top, and in full court. He's a slasher who can receive, and finish around the rim. He's a good court runner.

[player_tooltip player_id='1256538' first='Gavin' last='Ripp'] 6'7 Forward, WCE Elite National Silicon Valley, Archbishop Mitty HS

He's effective in the post area on both sides. His scoring, and rebounding numbers in the paint should go up this spring. He's sharpening his perimeter skills away from the basket, he's looking to improve his 3pt shot. He's rebounding, pushing, and passing in transition, and using his dribble to get into the paint from the perimeter.

[player_tooltip player_id='1382885' first='Ben' last='Dotten'] 6'5 W/F, WCE Elite National Silicon Valley, Santa Cruz HS

Dotten just continues to raise his level of play on the court. He works well from the high post with good vision, and passing. He can put it on the floor and get to the rim with a good touch in the paint. He's improved his perimeter game away from the basket. He handled well in transition, he knocked down the corner 3, and had some success driving into the paint.

Nathan D' Abreu Noronha 6'1 Guard, WCE Elite National Silicon Valley, Archbishop Mitty HS

He's an experienced prospect who continues to fine tune his guard skills. He can run point or work off ball. He makes good decisions with the ball in his hands. He's a hard driver to the rim handling contact, his mid-range jumper is good. He pushes and passes up in transition. He plays hard on the defensive side of the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1806646' first='Caleb' last='Asante'] 6'4 W/F, WCE Elite National Silicon Valley, Archbishop Mitty HS

He's a lean prospect with plenty of room to grow his game. He's strong and jumps well. He has work to do with his perimeter game, but for now he uses his length and strength to back his man down, he has a spin move into the paint. He goes up strong for points and rebounds around the rim. He had some success with his dribble away from the basket and he did put up a 3ptr.

[player_tooltip player_id='1120018' first='Demeke' last='Smith'] 6'3 G/W, WCE Elite National Silicon Valley, Santa Cruz HS

Smith is a good athlete, he has that quick twitch at times. He has good speed and he jumps well. His improved handles helps him attack the rim from the baseline and other areas along the perimeter. He runs fast to fill and finish in transition. He has good length and speed to be a good defender. His jump shot is improved.
