Teams ranging all the way from New York to Arkansas descended upon the MidAmerica Sports Center in Louisville, Kentucky to play four games between Saturday and Sunday. I had boots on the ground throughout the event providing extensive coverage on Twitter @BRamseyKSR and obviously here on the Prep Hoops website as well. We will have plenty of content over the next few days recapping the Grit Region Kick-Off, but first let’s take a look at some of the standouts from Sunday’s action.
Camden Cole (Eagleville (TN) H.S. 2026/TN Brigade 2026): Cole was consistently one of the best 2026 prospects in the gym this weekend at the Grit Region Kick-Off. The versatile 6’2″ wing dominated the competition while leading TN Brigade 2026 to a perfect 4-0 record. On Sunday, he turned in a 20-point, 10-rebound double-double against MAC Boys Basketball 2026 and followed it up with 14 points and 8 rebounds in a win over Indiana Ambition 2026.
Will Harmon Will Harmon 6'1" | SG Fountain Central | 2024 State IN (Massac County (IL) H.S. 2026/Team 4:13 2024): This skilled 6’0″ lead guard was a big part of Team 4:13’s success this weekend in Louisville. Harmon consistently made plays with the ball in his hands both scoring it himself or facilitating to his teammates on their way to a 4-0 record. Hard not to come away impressed with his all-around skill level and basketball IQ.
Jayden Marr (Green County (KY) H.S. 2025/New Outlawz 2025): Marr went off in New Outlawz 2025 morning win over Rock Summit Basketball 2025. The 6’1″ guard knocked in five three-pointers and scored a game-high 25 points in that contest. His shot-making ability from both beyond the arc and in the mid-range is what really stands out.
Torrien Perkins (Obama Academy (PA) 2024/Pittsburgh Pioneer Elite 2024): In one of the best games of the weekend, Pittsburgh Pioneer Elite 2024 came away with a hard fought 57-54 victory over Kentucky Supreme 2024. Perkins, a 6’3″ guard, led the way for Pioneer Elite scoring 18 points while showcasing his offensive versatility. He is a great athlete, very strong, and can stroke it from three-point range.
Joel Sanders (Vincennes Lincoln (IN) H.S. 2025/Indiana Ambition 2025): Sanders showcased his ability to get hot in a hurry from beyond the arc in Indiana Ambition’s 72-36 win over Circle City Shooters Elite 2025. The 6’2″ wing connected on five three-pointers on his way to a game-high 19 points. On the weekend, Indiana Ambition 2025 went 4-0 winning by an average margin of more than 37 points per game.
Chrishon Woodward (North Central (IN) H.S. 2026/Circle City Shooters Elite 2026): The physical tools standout immediately on this strong, athletic 6’5″ forward. However, his skill level is what keeps you intrigued. Woodward scored it in a variety of ways in Circle City Shooters Elite 2026’s 80-77 win over Indiana Ambition 2026. He handles the ball well for his size, has a smooth shooting stroke from beyond the arc, and can finish at a high level around the basket. Really impressive performance on Sunday.
Tino Yli-Junnila (Hudson (OH) H.S. 2024/MAC Boys Basketball 2024): Admittedly, we didn’t really get to see MAC Boys Basketball 2024 get tested this weekend in Louisville aside from their 93-88 win over Vision 2024 Elite. In their final game, a 78-40 win over NEBC 2024, Yli-Junnila capped off his impressive Grit Region Kick-Off with a game-high 17 points. The skilled, athletic 6’5″ wing is a very intriguing prospect that should garner a ton of attention this spring and summer.
