Continue ReadingThe CBG Grassroots Tip-Off took place on Saturday at RockIt Sports in Henrico, VA, and it was one of the top events on the east coast with some of the best teams from the DMV, VA and NC in attendance. There were over 30 teams ranging from 17U-15U, with some of the top teams in the area taking place.
We will be spending the next week breaking down the many standouts we saw at the event. If you want to watch the replay, you can see it on the CBG Live Network.
Here’s a look at some of the many 16U standouts from VA and NC in the event.
Colt Langdon | 6’7” WF | Team Loaded VA
Langdon is one of the toughest scoring wings for his age that I’ve seen in the past few years, as he’s already had a great high school career and is going to pick up a lot of traction this year with his talented Loaded team. The 6’7” wing is a tough shot maker who is able to use his size to rise up and make shots off the bounce over defenders, he shoots the ball well from deep off the catch and he can get downhill where he’s a good finisher through contact as well. He brings a competitive chip to his game that makes him very tough in close games and he has takeover ability as well.
Jackson Keith | 6’6” WF | Team Loaded VA
Keith is another NC native that plays for this VA team, and he has a blend of strength, athleticism and skill that makes him a walking mismatch and very productive, especially against the top teams. The 6’6” wing already has a college ready frame and is able to use his strength to clear out space and defend as well, he’s a bouncy athlete who can get downhill and finish above the rim and he’s very good as a catch-and-shoot player when he’s left open. He can play on or off the ball and has a shear will to get it done no matter what aspect of the game it’s in.
Donnie Richardson | 6’5” CG | Team Loaded VA
Richardson is a new addition to this Loaded team that won the 3SSB championship at 15U last year, and he’s exactly what they need as he’s a big guard who can both score it and facilitate. He did a good job playing both guard positions as he showed his ability to handle it and make plays on the ball, he showed his strong finishing ability with his strength and explosion and he made shots from multiple levels as well. His ability to play multiple roles and contribute in different ways across the board makes him a great addition to this group.
Nate Ament Nate Ament 6'8" | SF Highland | 2025 State #12 Nation VA | 6’8” F | Team Loaded NC
Ament is emerging as one of the top prospects in VA, as he has a lot of translatable skills to the next level and at his size is a mismatch with his ability to play on the perimeter and score in different ways. The 6’8” forward showed his ability to knock down shots consistently from deep off the catch even with a hand up, he showed good ball skills to be able to handle it and get to spots and he defended multiple positions and rebounded well in the paint. While he needs to fill out his game is perfect for this age and he’s set to blow up this summer when coaches get eyes on him.
Ashton Walker Ashton Walker 6'5" | PG Catholic | 2025 State #172 Nation VA | 6’3” PG | Team Loaded NC
Walker has been a standout at CBG events in the past, and he’s trending in the right direction after his year at Oak Hill and a recent growth spurt that has him standing a legit 6’3” at the point guard position now. His growth makes him even more dangerous as he’s shifty off the bounce with the ability to change speeds and directions, he has great feel and makes good reads when he gets in the paint and he’s now able to elevate and finish above the rim when he gets downhill. He’s emerging as a big time point guard prospect that should impress a lot of coaches this summer.
Aiden Argabright Aiden Argabright 6'0" | PG John Marshall | 2025 State #220 Nation VA | 6’0” PG | New World
Argabright continues to impress after a big sophomore season at St. Stephen’s St. Agnes, as the floor general was a big reason they went 2-0 including a win over DC rival Team Durant. Argabright has a great control of the game and makes very good decisions with the ball in his hands, he gets to spots by changing speeds and with a shifty handle and he’s very good at drawing contact and finishing through it when he gets downhill. He’s improved in his ability to create and make shots on the perimeter and is one of the more consistent guards I’ve seen in VA in the 2025 class.
Riley Jacobs Riley Jacobs 6'8" | C St. Stephen's & St. Agnes | 2025 State VA | 6’7” PF | New World
Jacobs is an emerging prospect to keep an eye on who also plays at St. Stephen’s St. Agnes, and he was productive throughout the event showing a lot of improvement. At 6’7” he may not be the tallest in the paint but he’s smart and moves well off the ball, he’s strong and he can play through contact and he has good touch in the paint and out to 18 feet. He’s active in the paint and always seems to be around the ball and he hits the glass hard on both ends too.
