The 7 team league featured teams from Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and North Carolina, and looked like an intermediate level of basketball between high school and college.
Here’s a look at the Honorable Mention All Prep League team, as voted on by the coaches in the league.
Dominic Stewart | 6’4” WG | Mt. Zion
EPL Averages: 13.0 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 2.8 APG – 42.9 FG% 32.1% 3FG
Stewart was one of Mt. Zion’s best players throughout the year, and considering he’s just a junior playing up against fifth year players makes it that much more impressive. The 6’4” two guard showed his ability to knock down shots from deep off the catch and off the bounce, he showed he can get downhill and finish at and above the rim and he competed defensively as well.
De’Shayne Montgomery | 6’5” WF | Hargrave
EPL Averages: 10.5 PPG, 3.8 RPG, 1.7 APG, 1.8 SPG – 58% FG
Montgomery would have likely put up even bigger numbers if he wasn’t on the best team in the country, yet he was still a very important piece who played on both ends of the floor and stepped up big in the Conference Championship win. The 6’5” wing has long arms to contest shots and jump passing lanes, he got downhill where he used his athleticism to finish above the rim and he scored it efficiently from all three levels too.
Georges Archer | 6’4” WG | Combine
EPL Averages: 15.0 PPG, 4.2 RPG, 1.8 APG – 51.5% FG
Archer was the glue guy for Combine, who finished third in the league and he was one of their most consistent and efficient players all season long. The 6’4” wing was one of the best defenders guarding the other team’s best player almost every game, he shot the ball well and was efficient from multiple levels and he consistently made winning plays and big shots throughout the season.
Mike Gray | 6’2” CG | Massanutten
EPL Averages: 19.3 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 4.2 APG – 41.9% FG 40% 3FG
Gray quickly emerged as Massanutten’s third option early in the season, and during conference play he was fantastic as he made tough shots consistently and had some huge games for them when they needed him to. He showed he can play on or off the ball and create shots for himself and others, he made shots on the move consistently and did so with a hand in his face more than most could and he showed the ability to get hot and take over games too.
Javen Foster | 6’6” PF | Massanutten
EPL Averages: 7.0 PPG, 5.5 RPG – 58.1% FG
Foster didn’t put up as big of numbers as these other guys, but he may have been the most improved player in the league throughout the season and became a major piece for Massanutten’s run to the National Prep Championships. While he’s still raw and new to basketball there’s a lot to like about him as he’s built like an NFL linebacker and can enforce his will in the paint, he’s one of the most freakishly athletic players you’ll see and had some major highlights with his above the rim finishing ability and he still has so much room to continue to improve in college.
Keyshawn Mitchell | 6’10” C | First Love
EPL Averages: 11.8 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 1.5APG – 70% FG
Mitchell was one of the most underrated players in the EPL all year long, as the 6’10” big man played to his role and had some big games against the best competition in the league. He excelled against the press as he was able to get behind the defense and catch long passes and finish above the rim, he was extremely efficient in the paint as he finished everything and got to the line often and defensively his size and athleticism made him an impact and made it tough for driving guards to finish.
Dawson Civil | 5’11” PG | Mt. Zion
EPL Averages: 12.8 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 4.2 APG – 40.7% FG
Civil emerged throughout the season as a viable floor general when Malachi Palmer Malachi Palmer 6'6" | SF Mt. Zion Prep | 2024 #53 Nation MD went down with an injury, and he ran the show and made plays for himself and others with ease. He’s a get after it type of guard who set the tone defensively and made plays for others with the ball in his hands, he made shots from deep and got to the rim where he finished well over bigger defenders and he was a good rebounder for his size and position as well.
