Continue ReadingJayden Mott Jayden Mott 6’8″ | PF Edmond Santa Fe | 2024 State OK is an athletic slasher and inside presence that keeps opponents up at night. Mott’s ability to move without the ball makes him a great candidate for back door lobs and easy finds under the rim where he is nearly unstoppable when going to finish. Jayden’s length is accompanied with a tenacious desire for crashing the boards and staying defensively active; whether its sending shots away or being active with his hands and coming up with steals to start the break. Mott’s is a dirty work big man that was vital in Carl Albert’s Sate Championship appearance and will have plenty opportunity for growth as he looks to ring more to the table for the team next season.
Highlights
Chris Mason Chris Mason 6’6″ | PF Victory Christian | 2024 State OK is athletic big man that plays with poise and passion. Mason has an impressive skill set and strong approach to the game, he’s comfortable playing with his back to the basket, finishing above the rim, stretching it behind the arc, and most impressive to me his feel for the midrange and is post fadeaway. Chris is intentional on getting his offense going early but seldom forces and benefits flow of the teams offense exponentially. Mason’s length and athleticism makes him a strong two-way player with his ability to dominate the boards and block shots, coupled by his ability to handle the rock decently to initiate the break.
Jackson Sowards Jackson Sowards 6’6″ | PF Metro Christian | 2024 State OK is a true big man that does all the little things night in and night out. Sowards ability to stay consistently moving on offense, finding gaps and holes in the defense makes him a big target for his teammates down low, couple by his ability to elevate quickly and score. Jackson is very comfortable around the rim and knows how to establish position against his defender and score with ease. Sowards is a anchor on the defensive end this season sending away 3-4 shots in numerous games added to his handful of double-doubles, the kid is a stat sheet stuffer. Coming off a 3a State Championship appearance where Sowards and Metro Christian fell 3pts short to a solid Millwood program, this summer will be a opportune season of growth for the big man as he prepares t return next season to handle some unfinished business.
Will Smith Will Smith 6’4″ | PF Choctaw | 2024 State OK is a stretch big that has high energy and a great feel for the game, ultimately being very fluid and poised when he plays. Smith was a strong threat on the interior for the Choctaw program on both sides of the flor this past season. Will dominates on the boards and has active hands in the passing lane causing him to be a catalyst to initiate the break at will. Will is just as comfortable behind the arc as he is in the paint, although being a little undersized for his position compared to most forwards across the state; Smith makes up fr that with skill and quickness on the offensive end and strength and tenacity on the defensive.
Erik Madrid Erik Madrid 7’1″ | C Union | 2024 State OK is a raw bug man with a lot of potential. This season Madrid really started to develop into a central pillar for the growth and success of the Union program. Erik possesses a massive presence inside but at times doesn’t realize jus how dominate he could be. Madrid has solid footwork and a soft touch around the rim and stays active on the boards and is an excellent shot blocker, relying on timing to prevent from getting into foul trouble. Erik is a prime candidate to have an explosive summer going into his senior year.
