People in the northern area of the state have known of this talented player for some time, but his play in the regionals made him known to the rest of the state. He is a skilled lead guard that can flat-out play. He has all the physical tools along with the IQ to be considered one of the best PGs in the state. He is a force to deal with as the initiator and playmaker for his squad. He sported one of the state's deepest bags of tricks off the dribble and is an exciting player we get to see showcase his talent one more year. He moved from being ranked #75 to #16.

[player_tooltip player_id='1260674' first='Joe' last='Wimberly'] (6'0/PG/'24/Pelham HS)

Instagram: joewimberly_

Twitter: @joewimberly_

Joe has really increased his stock this past season and has done it first with his play on the defensive end of the floor. He has emerged as one of the state's best on-ball defenders and is extremely disruptive at 94 feet. This year he showed to be more confident on the offensive end of the floor and provided his team with a level of scoring from the lead guard spot. His game really evolved in all facets, and he is one of the best two-way players in the top twenty. He has moved from being ranked #26 to #17.

[player_tooltip player_id='1601815' first='Brendan' last='Martin'] (6'6/G|F/'24/Grissom HS)

Instagram: Brendanmartin12

Brendan was not one of the big names that came out of Grissom this year, but he was one of the most valuable players on the team. He is extremely versatile on both ends of the floor as he creates mismatches offensively and can guard inside and out on the defensive end of the floor. He has fashioned himself into one of the state's best screen-and-roll threats as a screener, and he is able to command attention out of the roll, slip, and pop while teammates create off him. I look forward to seeing Brendan take on a more prominent leadership role next year during his senior campaign. He has moved from being ranked #33 to #26.

[player_tooltip player_id='1091943' first='Jywon' last='Boyd'] (5'11/PG/'24/Charles Henderson HS)

Instagram: _pinedeswezzy

Jywon had one of several impressive final-four performances. The play and leadership of Jywon helped take down Ramsay, who many considered the favorite to win it all. He showed his playmaking abilities, and whatever his team needed, he provided. He was really good at limiting turnovers, reading the floor, and knowing where the ball should be at any given time. He can beat you with both his skills and his smarts. He has moved from being ranked #77 to #27.

[player_tooltip player_id='1392690' first='Jordan' last='Ross'] (6'5/F/Vestavia Hills)

Instagram: Childsplay_205

Twitter: @Childsplay_205

Jordan, in my opinion, was the newcomer player of the year. His first year on varsity was an impactful one that showed Vestavia having a post presence that they have missed throughout the years. There were games where Jordan shut the paint down and staked his claim as king of the paint. He dominated on the glass, was a strong finisher in transition, and defended with toughness. He sports a soft touch near the rim and around the foul line, and he's a prodigious force in the pick-and-roll. He will have the Rebels in the mix of the top teams in 7A next year. He has moved from being ranked #83 to #31.

[player_tooltip player_id='1392686' first='Jackson' last='Weaver'] (6'2/PG/Vestavia Hills HS)

Instagram: jacksonweaver8

Twitter: @Jacksonrweaver3

Jackson has emerged as one of next year's most anticipated rising seniors. He is a gamer that I truly believe will surprise many next year. I covered him while he was on JV, and I was puzzled then as to why he was not on varsity. This year he served as an energy-giver in a way that few, if any, in the state could truly match. He is a two-way player that was flying around defensively to create stops, often catching fire from distance, being a creator off the bounce, thriving in transition, and ratcheting up the intensity level of a given moment. He has moved from being ranked #80 to #40.
