Here’s the latest on a handful of prospects in the state:
Jairus Terry Jr., Fayette Ware: The senior guard was on an official visit at Shawnee Community College on Tuesday. He’s expected to take an official visit to Arkansas State University Mid-South on Wednesday.
Damarien Yates, Fayette Ware: The TSSAA Division 1 Class 3A Mr. Basketball award winner has committed to Vincennes University over Mississippi Valley State University and Louisiana-Monroe.
Xavier Alexander, Memphis Overton: The Wolverines’ shot maker from this past season is expected to announce his college decision on May 5th. Alexander’s teammate, senior forward Jailen Hardaway, is also expected to make a decision on his future in the coming weeks.
Jordan Frison, Memphis Overton: Frison remains the only prospect inside the 10 of the 2023 Tennessee player rankings unsigned. He recently took official visits to Three Rivers College, Pittsburg State, and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College. Frison, a TSSAA Division 1 Class 4A Mr. Basketball finalist from this past season and state champion, is expected to take an official visit to UT-Martin in two weeks. He will be making his college announcement on May 1st.
Alex Hyder, Cleveland: Hyder has heard from Northwestern State and Abilene Christian. Hyder is expected to announce his college decision in May. Point guard Gabe Leeper will be taking an official visit to NAIA program Johnson University on Thursday. Senior forward Judah Sault could be committing this week.
Tylon Chatman, Haywood: Chatman will be announcing his college decision at the end of this week.
Power Center Academy’s Matthew Green, Nick Wiggins, Jordan Brooks, and Cordarious Sledge are close to making a college decision. All four prospects have seen their recruitment flourish throughout the 2022-23 season.
