This early in the spring there is still plenty to shake out in the 2023 recruiting cycle, but for a lot of college programs their focus has shifted and it is full speed ahead into the Class of 2024. For the most part, these prospects will be the elder-statesmen of the grassroots circuit over the coming months. Let’s take a look at 10 prospects from the state of Indiana in the Class of 2024 that are poised to have a big spring.
At 6’3″ and 195 pounds, Bell has excellent physical tools. He is very strong off of the dribble with the ability to play through contact and has the explosiveness to get up and finish above the defense. Averaged 12.8 points and 4.4 rebounds per game this season at North Central. Poised for a big spring with Kyle Guy Elite 17u.
Highlights
Fresh off of being named an Indiana Junior All-Star, Casky has already made waves this spring with a strong showing out in Milwaukee at the NY2LA Swish ‘N Dish. The athletic 6’3″ wing has become an efficient scorer at all three levels, rebounds very well, and has obvious upside on the defensive end of the floor. It won’t be long before the college attention really starts to spill over for him.
A long, athletic two-way guard, Fields should have a breakout spring and summer in the coming months. He has waited his turn as a role player behind plenty of Division I talent at Cathedral and will get a chance to shine this summer with Indy Heat Red. Very good driver and passer that will play in the passing lanes defensively.
Fugate was already a big stock-riser during the high school season averaging 12.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game while shooting 44% from beyond the arc on nearly two made 3’s per game. The 6’5″ versatile wing has guard level skill and the size to hold his own around the basket. Already has become one of the most sought after small college prospects with early offers/visits from Manchester and Wabash.
Garza is a long, left-handed forward that runs the floor well and has some verticality around the rim. He will be playing with 94 Feet Elite 17u this spring and summer with a chance to prove himself against other talented forwards. The 6’6″ prospect has high upside that should get some more eyes on him in the coming months.
One of the more talented pure scorers in Indiana’s Class of 2024. Howell averaged 23.2 points and 4.0 assists per game this season at Evansville Bosse on his way to being named an Indiana All-Star. This spring playing with DI Indiana should start to prove to college coaches what he can do at the next level. Don’t just move on because of the size. His brother, Mekhi Lairy (also 5’8″) just finished scoring 1,743 points in his career at Miami (OH). Howell could follow in those footsteps.
This high-upside forward is already starting to get his name on the radar after being named to the Indiana Junior All-Star team recently. At 6’7″ with impressive length he has the requisite physical tools you want in a forward. He is very mobile for his size, has great hands, and can score it in the post. Averaged 10.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season. Will be playing with 94 Feet Elite 17u once again.
Lewis is a lightening quick left-handed point guard that helped lead Fort Wayne Wayne to Semi-State this season. His team-best 16.6 points and 6.4 assists per game earned him SAC Conference Player of the Year honors and a spot on the Indiana Junior All-Star team. He is as dynamic of a playmaker as you will find in Indiana’s Class of 2024. Scholarship offers are in his near future.
Highlights
Good size with some physical strength and can jump between the “3” and the “4” positions. Smith averaged 10.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while also dishing out 3.3 assists. He is a good playmaker on the wing for his size with strong driving ability. At his best attacking closeouts and finish around the basket. Will play on the UA Rise Circuit this spring and summer with Indiana Game.
Playing on the UAA Circuit this spring and summer with Grand Park Premier should do a lot for this 6’6″ forward’s recruitment. Sims, who holds an offer from Grace and was named an Indiana Junior All-Star, averaged 16.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game as a junior. He is mobile, very vertical at the rim, and has the skilled to face-up away from the basket.
