The top prospects in this sectional include Tyran Cook Tyran Cook 6'1" | SG Waukesha South | 2023 State WI (Waukesha South), Collin Madson Collin Madson 6'4" | PG Mukwonago | 2023 State WI (Mukwonago), MJ Stackhouse (Kenosha Indian Trail), Will Gardner Will Gardner 6'2" | CG Franklin | 2023 State WI (Franklin), and Termarion Brumby Termarion Brumby 6'1" | CG Racine Case | 2024 State WI (Racine Case). Read below for game by game breakdowns.
#1 Kettle Moraine vs #16 Kenosha Tremper
Kettle Moraine has had an up and down season and comes into the tournament losing 3 of their last 4 games. Good news for the Lasers in this one; their duo of Drew Wagner Drew Wagner 5'7" | PG Kettle Moraine | 2024 WI and Will Stuckey Will Stuckey 6'1" | SG Kettle Moraine | 2024 State WI get the team back on track with a win. Kettle Moraine has shown flashes this year in wins over Arrowhead and Brookfield Central. When juniors Drew Wagner Drew Wagner 5'7" | PG Kettle Moraine | 2024 WI and Will Stuckey Will Stuckey 6'1" | SG Kettle Moraine | 2024 State WI are playing well, they can beat anyone.
#8 Oak Creek vs #9 Milwaukee Reagan
Due to inclement weather forecasted for Friday, this game was moved to Thursday. Oak Creek used the 2nd half to pull away from Milwaukee Reagan and win by a score of 64-50. In order to beat Kettle Moraine, all conference players Izaac Neal and Drew Braam Drew Braam 6'2" | SF Oak Creek | 2024 State WI will need to step up and play their best game of the season.
#5 Waukesha South vs #12 Janesville Parker
This game has the potential to be close, but ultimately Waukesha South wins it thanks to what should be an incredible performance by Tyran Cook Tyran Cook 6'1" | SG Waukesha South | 2023 State WI . I love Cook’s game and he’s been a star all year. He’s one of the best uncommitted senior prospects and I expect him to explode in this game. A regional final of Waukesha South vs Kenosha Indian Trail projects to be a really good game.
#4 Kenosha Indian Trail vs #13 Milwaukee Pulaski
I talked about Manasseh Stackhouse last week and the Southeast Conference Player of the Year will continue his strong season against Milwaukee Pulaski. Look for MJ and teammate Jackson Wilhelmson to have great games in what should be an easy win. Jackson is a 6’5” sharpshooter averaging 15.5 points per game. He recently picked up an offer from Lakeland University.
#3 Muskego vs #14 Beloit Memorial
Muskego comes into the playoffs winning four straight games, including a win over #2 seed Franklin. Senior Louie Schwabe Louie Schwabe 6'5" | C Muskego | 2023 WI is coming off his best game of the year where he poured in 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Muskego has a solid core and multiple players that contribute to winning including Aiden Krause Aiden Krause 6'4" | SF Muskego | 2024 State WI , Ashton Krause, and Will Wensink Will Wensink 6'3" | CG Muskego | 2023 WI . Muskego rolls over Beloit Memorial in this one and is likely the safest bet in this sectional.
#6 Mukwonago vs #11 Badger
Mukwonago is 1-4 in their last five games but ended the regular season with a victory over #1 seed Kettle Moraine. That momentum will carry them to victory in this game. Badger seniors Brad Lyon and Ashton Turner give it their all, but it’s not enough to get past Whitewater commit Collin Madson Collin Madson 6'4" | PG Mukwonago | 2023 State WI . The 6’4” senior has been tearing up defenses this season by averaging 23.6 points per game. This includes a near 40 ball in a win over Kettle Moraine. Mukwonago is my dark horse team to make some noise.
#7 Racine Case vs #10 Janesville Craig
I think this game ends up being a lot closer than people expect it to be. Ultimately, Racine Case wins it thanks to rising junior Termarion Brumby Termarion Brumby 6'1" | CG Racine Case | 2024 State WI . In the playoffs, a strong, calm facilitator is needed and that’s exactly what Brumby is. His ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor will help Case get over the top. It’s hard to beat a team three times, so I look forward to an exciting regional final between Racine Case and Franklin.
#2 Franklin vs #15 Racine Horlick
This should be a double-digit win for the Sabers. The Southeast Conference champs are red hot coming into the playoffs, winning 7 of their last 8. Franklin has a path to Madison, but I think it really comes down to their role players. Will Gardner Will Gardner 6'2" | CG Franklin | 2023 State WI and Alex Mierow are 1st team all-conference for a reason, but if Brandon Tilley Brandon Tilley 6'5" | SF Franklin | 2024 State WI and Eli Podoll Eli Podoll 6'1" | PG Franklin | 2024 State WI can step up, they can win the sectional.
