Continue ReadingKnown as a five-star football recruit, the 6-foot-8 goliath is a monster in the paint. Williams immediately passes the eye test, long, strong and bouncy. He’s an excellent rebounder that rises above crowds to get to caroms before anyone else can, plucking them out of the atmosphere. Williams is a very good rim protector. Elyiss had a handful of weak whistles go against him, eventually fouling him out but his impact on the floor was game-changing. In the 40-36 loss to Wilkinson County, Williams recorded 10 points, 20 rebounds and 6 blocks in 24 minutes of action.
Justin Stanley
Justin Stanley
The Region 5 Player of the Year didn’t have a huge game, but netted seven of his 11 points in the fourth quarter and was a perfect 4-4 from the stripe as the Blue Storm pushed ahead. Stanley is active without the ball and is a dangerous shooter with a lightning quick trigger whenever he touches it. Justin is extremely wiry thin. A college weight room could help him unlock his full potential at the next level.
Fayette County couldn’t match Moore’s toughness in the paint. The junior calmly finished around the rim consistently throughout the night, shooting 10-16 from the field as he finished with 23 points and 7 rebounds. LJ compiled five offensive boards and scored through contact in Fayette County’s sea of defensive chaos. Moore was a big reason why Pace Academy outscored the Tigers 52-22 in the paint and outrebounded them 41-19.
The highly touted High Major prospect had some low scoring outputs over the final month of the season but when the Knights needed him most, Greene showcased his ability to score efficiently all while maintaining his prowess as a pass-first playmaker. KJ poured in 19 points on a smooth 9-13 shooting. Greene excelled at slinking his way to the rim while mixing in pull-up jumpers off deft ball handling. Good things happened when Greene initiated the offense. When he hunts his shot, KJ can score from all three levels.
Robert Hurst
Robert Hurst
Hurst was Fayette County’s most effective Tiger scoring 12 points on 3-3 shooting. He was able to get downhill and convert at the line shooting 6-7. Hurst stepped up, coming into the game averaging six points per game.
