The top-ranked Caddo Bruins came into the state tournament as the favorite to lift the gold ball and that’s exactly what they did on Saturday. The Bruins captured their first state championship in school history behind their star guard DJ Dill DJ Dill 6'2" | CG Caddo | 2024 State OK , but more on him later. In this post, we’re taking a look at the top performances from the Class A state tournament with our picks for MVP as well as the rest of the All Tournament Team. The biggest thing to stand out with this post is that all five players will be back next year. From juniors to sophomores and a freshman, don’t be surprised to see a few of these names back at the Big House again next year.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
DJ Dill DJ Dill 6'2" | CG Caddo | 2024 State OK – Caddo (Most Valuable Player)
As if there was any other choice? Caddo came into the state tournament as the favorite to capture the state championship and junior guard DJ Dill DJ Dill 6'2" | CG Caddo | 2024 State OK was a big reason why. Dill had his breakout moment last season as a sophomore where he performed well under the bright lights of the Big House. Coming into this season, Dill had the Bruins not only as the favorite to win it all in Class A, he was certainly in the conversation as one of the best players in the state for the smaller classes. Dill has established himself as one of the best prospects in the state’s 2024 class and that was on display throughout the tournament. It seemed like anytime Dill wanted to score, he was going to score. The only time he was somewhat limited was in the semifinals and even then, he still went for 20+ points. He would average 27 points per game over the three day stretch and help the Bruins capture that first state title in school history.
Diezel Davis Diezel Davis 5'10" | PG Okay | 2025 State OK – Okay
Okay sophomore Diezel Davis Diezel Davis 5'10" | PG Okay | 2025 State OK had back to back performances in the quarterfinal and semifinal round where he started fast and exploded in the first two quarters. Davis would average nearly 15 points per game over the three day stretch in Oklahoma City. The Mustangs would come up short in the state championship game as they fell to Dill and the Bruins. Davis was an outstanding shooter throughout the tournament. As just a sophomore, Davis has a bright future with a strong showing in the Big House. We anticipate Davis and the Mustangs to be back in contention for another Big House appearance next season.
Hudson Hamar – Seiling
Seiling also ran into the Caddo buzzsaw in the semifinal round but junior Hudson Hamar had a good showing in both days in Oklahoma City. He was a consistent performer in the first round and the semifinal round as he dropped 15 points in their quarterfinal win on Wednesday followed by 16 points in the loss to Caddo in the semifinals. Hamar and the Wildcats pushed Caddo to the brink and nearly pulled off the upset on Friday but came up just short. You know that they are going to use that to fuel them throughout this offseason as they look to make it back to the Big House again next year, searching for gold.
James Childers – Rattan
Rattan would end up making it to the semifinals after beating Okarche in the opening round on Wednesday. Part of their win in the quarterfinals was the performance of sophomore James Childers, as he would finish with 22 points and also grab eight rebounds in the win. He was limited in their semifinal match-up against Okay but Childers still had one of the top scoring performances of the tournament when he would go for 22 points in the opening round. Okarche would pressure the Rams and that set up Childers with a lot of open looks as long as they took care of the ball and broke the press.
Jett Mueggenborg Jett Mueggenborg 6'2" | SG Okarche | 2026 State OK – Okarche
Speaking of Okarche, they would come up short to Rattan in the first round on Wednesday but they had one of the best shooters in the tournament with freshman Jett Mueggenborg Jett Mueggenborg 6'2" | SG Okarche | 2026 State OK . He would score 17 of his game-high 23 points in the second half as they would attempt a rally that just came up short. But Mueggenborg makes it on this breakdown for what he was able to do from beyond the arc. He would go 6-9 from three-point range and that kind of efficiency as a freshman in a state tournament game was very impressive to watch. Mueggenborg has a bright future ahead of him as the only freshman on this list.
