In a Saturday night viewing, it was a slow start for the Okay standout. But the way he responded and battled back was impressive.  Davis is a sniper from deep, and allowed three point makes to give him confidence. Which translated into him showing off his fancy dribble skills and great vision.  The quick guard can also can also be a pest defensively, with a nose to jump into the passing lanes and making the opposition pay for sloppy passing. After a few great years of production at the small town level, it was great to see him adjust and eventually thrive at the 17U level of a good regional tournament.

The eastern Oklahoma small town standout continues to be one of the most of the electrifying guards at the event. He showed off the three main facets of his game. He drilled his quick release three pointers.  Displayed outstanding vision and touch on his passes, with transition feeds and one very great drive that finished with an outstanding one handed pass kick out to an open shooter.  Then the bundle of energy that is Davis, even was a havoc causer on the defensive end. Popping up with quick hands, instinct steals in the backcourt.  The Mustangs continue to battle it out with the bigger programs, with showtime Davis at the helm.

It was a slow start for the junior sharpshooter, as he was clearly at the top of opposition’s scouting report.  But he proved he was a well rounded lead guard, by not hunting for bad shots, and getting his teammates involved.  Davis has some wiggle when getting downhill and helped create good looks off his drives.

Late in the second when it looked like Edmond North would pull away, Davis slipped open for a couple threes that helped his Mustangs climb right back into the game. That would continue into the second half, as a late triple in the third would cut his squad’s deficit to only two. The 2025 guard went 5-7 from three on his way to a game high 21 points.

Diezel Davis Diezel Davis 5'10" | PG Okay | 2025 State OK is a player that is so well-rounded offensively that he made the top shooters list and top playmakers list. He is a reliable shooter from the outside and can get to the rim for two. He excelled at driving gaps and kicking to an open shooter or hitting a cutter with a well-placed pass for an assist. He racked up several assist throughout the course of the event, while still showing the ability to take over in big moments to create opportunities for himself. On the defensive end, he played great defense and was able to force several turnovers and steals. His on-ball defense and hustle were things that contributed to helping his team’s success, but was not reflected in the box score. It was a great day for him as he showed to be a top notch playmaker.

Diezel Davis Diezel Davis 5'10" | PG Okay | 2025 State OK is someone that was a great playmaker and looked to set his teammates up, but he was also able to shoot consistently. He shoots with confidence and showed the ability to knock down pull-up jumpers, catch and shoot, and hit the contested shots. Whenever the game was close, he was not afraid of stepping up and taking big shots. If you need a playmaker that can consistently shoot and plays good defense on the perimeter, this is your guy.

Diezel Davis Diezel Davis 5'10" | PG Okay | 2025 State OK was Mr. Reliable for his team. In both games that I saw him play in, he looked to control the pace for his team. He would make one play after another, acting as a great playmaker and also showing the ability to score. He was a reliable shooter and playmaker, but also showed the ability to get to the rim and finish in traffic. In one game, he knocked down three three-pointers and a couple of more in the other game. On defense, he was harassing the ball-handlers and forcing turnovers. Despite not being the tallest player, he was not afraid of any challenge on either end of the court. He has a consistent motor that seemed to never slow down. Even when it was obvious the other guys were tired, he was still going full-speed. He was one of the best playmakers that I saw this weekend.

Davis had it going from the gate, when he opened the game with 11 quick points, including connecting from distance three times. His third make from three led to Texhoma calling a timeout and doubling their defensive focus on him, as he was face guarded the reminder of the game. From that point forward the sophomore switched to more of a distributor role, as he ended up handing out 4 assists with nifty passing. He did deliver a huge spark to end the third quarter with a deep three as the horn sounded. That sparked a run to begin the fourth and Okay pulled away.
