They matched up against an Arbor team much more talented than their 7th seed in 5A South. The Aggies behind the play of Sophomores Brian Townsend Brian Townsend 6'4" | SF Arbor View | 2025 State NV and Sebastian Knox Sebastian Knox 6'1" | CG Arbor View | 2025 State NV and a stifling defense dominated the 1st half jumping out to a 28-13 lead. In the second half the Jags made a run, led by the play of senior guard Isiaac Boykin Isiaac Boykin 6'2" | SG Desert Pines | 2023 State NV , but it wasn’t enough. The Aggies would eventually go on to a 65-43 victory, clinching a 5A playoff birth.
Most Impactful Player
Knox was tremendous, and controlled the game with both his scoring and playmaking. His ability to consistently get into the lane was huge. The sophomore guard was effective whether finishing over opponents, or drawing and dishing to teammates. He led all scorers with 17 points.
Best Offensive Player
The best way to describe Townsend is efficient. It felt like he hit everything he put up, showing off improved three-point ability. He did a terrific job of using his body to get into the lane and using his upper body strength to deliver and then finish through contact. The sophomore wing finished with 13 in the game.
Highlights
Best Defensive Player
Brown plays hard, and he made an impact and earned minutes for his willingness to defend. He was good when he defended on ball, using low stance and good lateral quickness to stay in front of shifty ballhandlers.
Biggest Sleeper
Everytime I see Adams, I like him a little more. The combo guard has a skilled offensive game, and as evident by his explosive drive and dunk, he also possesses some R&J athleticism.
Best Freshman
Coleman was the only freshman to see the floor. Good physical tools, he provided perimeter defense and solid minutes for the Jags on the night.
Highlights
Best High Motor Guy
You could almost always pencil in Burrell as a high motor guy and despite the loss, he did nothing to change that eval. Whether it was driving downhill or providing tough, hard nosed on the ball defense, the junior guard played with a consistent motor, impacting the game with his ability to win in traffic rebounds, and 50/50 balls.
