Prep Hoops Florida scout Ross Van De Griek is taking a deeper dive at who the top standouts were from the opening round of the 2023 FHSAA Boys Basketball playoffs.
The Furman University signee was a sharpshooter throughout the night knocking down some big shots to help lead Tampa Catholic to a 80-51 opening round win over Bradenton Christian. Bronson finished with a game-high 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field and 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
The 6-1 junior point guard went off in what appeared to be a wild game, as he finished with a game-high 39 points in Calvary Christian’s 89-76 double overtime win over Northside Christian. MacGregor was knocking down shots from all over the floor as well as getting his teammates involved.
The 6-0 junior point guard was a near perfect from the field knocking down 8 3-pointers en route to a 26 point performance, leading Impact Christian Academy to a 81-49 win over North Florida Christian.
The 6-1 senior shooting guard shot 11-for-19 from the field and just 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, leading all scorers with 27 points in Southeast’s 61-59 opening round win over Port Charlotte. At just 6’1 he did a fantastic job getting tough shots to go down and was also efficient at getting to the free throw line, going 3-of-4 from the line.
The 6-8 senior guard finished with a triple-double (28 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists) leading Crossroad Academy to a commanding 86-54 win over University Christian in the regional quarterfinals. The 3-star small forward remains towards the top of our unsigned senior player rankings, as he was knocking down timely shots. Parker was also really impressive on the defensive end challenging shots and protecting the rim.
The 6-1 senior guard was all over the floor on both ends, finishing with 38 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in a 76-67 overtime win over First Baptist Academy. He was the energizer and also hit the game-tying 3-pointer to send the game into overtime.
