It’s one and done in this state, and while a first-round loss is the end of the season for some players, it’s the beginning of the grassroots year for others. Keep an eye on these guys during this Spring and Summer.
The sophomore guard is comming off a season that saw him average over 18 points per game. I’m not sure who he’s running with this summer yet, but he should be a prime canidate for some of the top AAU program in the state.
Highlights
The sophomore Wilkins has already established himself as one of the state’s premiere shooters. He also proved to be one of the better rebounders, using his 6’4 frame to impact games from the interior. He ususallly runs with Vegas Elite, so I expect to see him playing against more high level competition this summer.
Highlights
The sophomore PG has already kind of made himself into an AAU legend, with his shifty handels and deep range shooting prowless. Cimarron suffered a heartbreaking defeat on Tuesday, but Judkins still has the chance to raise his profile this summer. He ran with Prominent Elite last year, so I’m curious to see who he plays with this grassroots season.
Nelson is a player I’ll be evaluating very closely to see what level of prospect he is. He has good positional size, and a signature skill. The Washington transfer ran with Renton Select last season, but will have his options of local squads this year.
The scoring machine had a tremendous season, leading Foothill to the playoffs. He’s poised for a huge summer. The scoring guard usually runs with the Las Vegas Knicks, who will be playing on the New Balance Circuit this year.
Highlights
The Chef left it all on the floor in his final game of the season, putting up 23 against #4 Coronado. The two sport star, always has football as an option, but is also a legitamate basketball prospect. He is another player that runs with Vegas Elite, excpect a guy with his size, strength and athleticism to open some eyes this summer.
Highlights
Hard not to root for a guy like Burrell. He brings it every time he steps on the floor, and impacts games with his energy and effort. As the season went on, he impacted games with his production, including showing improved 3 point shooting. He’s played with numerous of teams throughout this AAU career so I’m excited to see who he runs for this summer.
Nance is one of the most talented offensive weapons in the state. The lefty is a multi level scorer with a big time handle and wiggle. He only played a handful of games for the Bulldogs this season, so some AAU consistency should help improve his profile. He usually runs with the Knicks so expect to see him on the NewBalance Circuit this summer.
