Sleeper 2023 Post Wilmoth Leads O'Fallon to Win

In the first contest it was all O'Fallon right from the start as they jumped out early and never looked back winning by running clock 65-35 over Whitfield. Class of 2023 post [player_tooltip player_id='1476094' first='Koby' last='Wilmoth'] has solid size and a good frame with strength. He was super efficient in this game going for 25 points (10-14 FG) (3-6 3 PT) along with 5 rebounds. Wilmoth had it all working as he hit spot up threes, spin moves on the interior, put backs, and scored off deep post position. Early on it looked like it was going to be the [player_tooltip player_id='1157355' first='Jaeden' last='Rush'] show as the junior floor general had a quick five points before foul trouble. What we like about him is the ease that he accelerates to the rim, changing gears on a dime, and passes with flair. Showed he can hit an open shot in an 11 point outing. [player_tooltip player_id='1373443' first='Rini' last='Harris'] didn't have a dominant game, but showed he can be a utility wing at the next level doing a little of everything even when his shot isn't falling. Hit the glass hard and passed well for 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 dimes. The x-factor for this team off the bench is Isaiah Camper. The guard does the little things taking charges, making extra pass, being a good defender, and is an effective spot up shooter. He had 8 points. O'Fallon will get a much tougher test on Saturday against Chaminade.

Simon Shows Small College Potential for Whitfield

The lone real bright spot for Whitfield was their 6'0” compactly built guard Noah Simon. He was relentless attacking downhill for 16 points using his strength and athleticism to finish at the rim.

Newly Minted #3 2024 Certa Breaks Scoring Record in Loss

We feel pretty good about moving up Bloomington Central Catholic shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1157235' first='Cole' last='Certa'] to #3 and the top wing in the junior class after his performance on Friday night. Against a program known for their defense in small school powerhouse Nashville he dropped 43 points breaking Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum's event scoring record. Despite the loss he did absolutely everything he could to put his team on his back and carry them. The crazy thing is he didn't shoot particularly well from three which is what most know him for as he was only going 3-15 from distance. What was impressive was his shot making ability in the mid-range being able to create his own shot and getting space away from defenders to make difficult shots a little easier. Also took it to the basket for several nifty finishes with either hand including several spin moves. Final stat line read 43 points (16-33 FG), 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. [player_tooltip player_id='1373447' first='Colin' last='Hayes'] is a junior power forward that hit the glass hard in the second half recording 7 offensive rebounds getting second chance opportunities for his team. Finished with 8 points, 9 rebounds, 3 dimes, and 3 steals. Only other double figure scorer in the game for BCC was guard Chase Fisher. The combo guard hit a pair of threes on his way to 12 points.

Nashville's Depth Shines Through in Win

The story of the night was Certa, but Nashville picked up a massive win beating BCC 76-70 in overtime. They stormed out early leading 21-10 after the first half. The defending 2A state champs blew a lead late, but persevered in overtime by making gritty plays to get the win. Nashville 6'9” five man [player_tooltip player_id='1215304' first='Bennett' last='Briles'] is the Hornets top prospect. He played like it in a primetime game. Skilled big man that can really shoot it from deep with sound mechanics and a soft touch. In the paint it was more of the same with baseline jumpers, mid-range shots, and hooks. He had 22 points (8-13 FG) (3-6 FG) and 6 rebounds. [player_tooltip player_id='1048393' first='Carter' last='Schoenherr'] is their second leading scorer and was in this one as well netting 18 points (7-11 FG) (2-3 3 PT) as the strong two guard scored on straight line takes finishing with euro steps, runners, and spin moves. Also hit a couple big threes. Trey Reinburg chipped in 11 points (4-6 FG) (2-3 3 PT) and Rylan Hammer went for 13 points (4-4 FG) as key x-factors in the win.
