The WPIAL Playoffs are set to begin this week and today we'll feature some more top players to watch based on their regular season successes.

[player_tooltip player_id='991401' first='Brandin' last='Cummings'] | 6'4" | G | Lincoln Park Charter

An elite scorer at multiple levels, Cummings has a nice handle and can easily break down defenders off the dribble to get at the rim but can also pull up in the mid range or beyond the arc. He's got the capability to finish with either hand around the rim. He's committed to Pitt, which is a major hometown score for the Panthers--Who need to start preparing for life after the pandemic portal closes, which it will soon---and Cummings is a major step in that direction. There's work to be done for Pitt with the 2024s in the region to consider it a "smashing recruiting success" and would do well to land our next prospect to watch as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='991408' first='Meleek' last='Thomas'] | 6'5" | G | Lincoln Park Charter

Cummings backcourt mate at Lincoln Park is one of the top rated players in the entire country. An electric athlete who can get out in transition, finish at the rim with confidence and elevate above defenders to nail shots from all over the floor, Thomas is a top-shelf prospect with a bright future. He's a part of the Team USA Basketball setup and receives additional exposure and training there. He's another player who Jeff Capel will need to score big with in order to keep the Panthers moving forward--though he'll face serious competition. There's more to Pittsburgh for Capel to chase after, as [player_tooltip player_id='1173989' first='Royce' last='Parham'] is also an elite prospect in the region.

[player_tooltip player_id='1187999' first='Brayden' last='Foster'] | 6'8" | F | Highlands

A strong bodied forward who plays AAU out of NYC, Foster is perhaps the top player in the entire Allegheny Valley. A legit 6'8" with a rock solid build, good footwork in the post and a nice soft touch around the rim. He's got some D2 interest but that should continue to grow over the course of the next year. He'll join Parham as a top big in Pittsburgh for next year and will be asked to handle quite a bit of the offense next season as [player_tooltip player_id='991347' first='Jimmy' last='Kunst'] graduates.

[player_tooltip player_id='1187981' first='Elijah' last='Guillory'] | 6'4" | G | Moon Twp

Guillory is a smooth guard who also is a solid athlete on the football field. He's got a strong build and good ball handling skills. He's a slasher who gets to the rim with confidence. Crafty dribbler who can break down defenders but also can hit shots from range. Just got his first D1 offer from Drexel and more will follow. A player that regional D1s RMU, Youngstown, Duquesne and St Francis should be interested in tracking.

[player_tooltip player_id='1187923' first='Major' last='Rainey'] | 6'4" | G | Allderdice

Rainey had a breakout junior year after impressing as a sophomore. His explosiveness is a key to his game and he's got a good understanding of how he fits in a half court set. He's at his best when he's running the floor and can elevate over defenders on his way to the rim. He's a slasher who's also very active on the glass at both ends of the floor. He's a scholarship level prospect and part of a very deep Allderdice team that could make noise at the statewide level in 6A this year.
