Continue ReadingOsmar was a one-man wrecking crew in the first half. The polished bully-ball point-forward scored 18 points in the opening 16 minutes and finished with 24 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks as Lanier pulled away from South Paulding 67-55. He’s a vocal presence on the floor, directing teammates where to go. He has elite hands and is a powerful low block scorer that plucks rebounds and finishes inside. Osmar has a soft touch around the rim and can get downhill as he uses his strength and tight handle to beat opponents to the hoop. Garcia has comfortable footwork in the pivot and seals extremely well. His vision as a playmaker is impressive. After the game, he stuck around to personally tell each South Paulding player good game as they came out of the locker room. The only thing holding back Osmar’s stock is his lack of leaping ability. Everything else grades him as one of Georgia’s elite forwards. He should be on Mid-Major radars.
Highlights
Boogie came to play showcasing his sneaky leaping ability, throwing down a pair of dunks as his momentum plays ignited the home crowd. Morgan scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half, getting to the rim on backdoor cuts and drives to the basket. Tahai also provided help on the glass with 6 rebounds.
Jayce provided 14 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 3 blocks. Nathaniel did a bulk of his damage on the perimeter, hitting a pair of threes and scoring on two cuts. When Jayce went to the block, he was an effective post passer finding cutters. Nathaniel has serious upside and is really becoming a full-time wing. He’s a smooth shooter off the dribble and still maintains the ability to impact games defensively with his shot blocking.
JUCO schools should be after Jeremiah Taylor Jeremiah Taylor 6’2″ | CG South Paulding | 2023 State GA , who finished his career with 21 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 6 steals. Taylor sank three three-pointers and went 4-4 from the line, two areas of growth this season. He’s an explosive downhill guard that finishes through contact and has a push floater at the top of the lane.
Look for Andrew Lavigne Andrew Lavigne 6’2″ | SG South Paulding | 2024 State GA to put up big numbers next year as the unquestioned go-to scorer for the Spartans as a senior. The junior posted 18 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals while sinking three threes on the night. He’s a lethal shooter, compact with his stroke as he scores off the catch and off the dribble, good at getting to his spots using two dribbles or less. Andrew is also a solid athlete when attacking the basket. He already holds the single-game scoring record at 39 points, set this season.
