Boykins is one of, if not the best all around athlete in the state. Although basketball isn’t his primary sport, he has natural ability just to flat out score it. Can get to the rim just about anytime he wants and is electric in transition. If he puts the work in this summer and becomes a consistent shooter, it will be virtually impossible to guard him at the high school level. Next season I look for him to lead North Hardin to region as they are in one of the toughest districts in the state.
Barnes is one of the best wings in the state that can score at all three levels. Has great size which can allow him to score both thru and over top defenders on drives. He is very comfortable on the perimeter shooting, especially off the catch. Always seems to play under control and get himself easy looks at shots. Highly efficient player scoring 16.9 ppg leading Danville this past season. Will be a critical summer for him to get exposure because he has the skill.
Highlights
Dawson Garth
Dawson Garth
Garth had a solid year for Tates Creek averaging 7.3 ppg this past season as a Sophomore. He has good size and strength and plays with an edge. Doesn’t back down from competition. Has good touch on floaters when he gets to the paint. This summer will be huge for his development as he got valuable experience this past season. If he can develop a consistent jump shot and get more of a feel to let the game slow down for him, he could have a really good career.
Reesor had a great season averaging 15 ppg knocking down 36 from 3pt range. Has great feel finding open spaces to cut and finish. He over simplifies his game and rarely plays outside himself. Can put the ball on the floor for one or two dribbles to drive. Capable 3pt shooter as well off the catch. Could breakout this summer and also will be critical to develop his ball handling which will allow him to expand his game.
Brock Coffman
Brock Coffman
Coffman is a big time athlete that took a huge leap this season going from 2.2 ppg last season to scoring 11.3 ppg this year. Plays with great instincts on both sides of the ball and loves getting out and playing in transition. Shifty driver that uses his quickness to get to the rim. Capable shooter off the catch, but much more comfortable driving the ball. If he develops this summer like he did last season, next year will be a monster year for him.
Miyo Jones
Miyo Jones
Jones is an electric combo guard that is really fun to watch. Plays with extreme energy and always seems to be involved in every play. Lethal shooter from 3pt range knocking down 72 on the season. Is a unique shooter that can shoot just as good off the dribble as he does off the catch. Struggles at times to score around the basket but is crafty when trying to finish. Becoming a more consistent finisher should be a focal point for him this summer but will garner a ton of attention in the grassroots scene because he is such a dynamic scorer.
Ian Mann
Ian Mann
Mann is one of the most consistent players in Northern Kentucky. He makes open shots when he has them, makes the right passes and will take advantage of poor defenders driving the ball. Averaging 14.2 ppg this season making 49 – 3’s from 3pt range, I look for him to drastically improve next year and potentially average in the 20’s.
Aaron Gutman
Aaron Gutman
Gutman averaged 17.5 ppg for Walton Verona before losing to a good Grant County team in the first round of the district tournament. He is a great driver utilizing his size to score tough baskets at the rim and also has the athleticism to score above the rim. There isn’t a ton of holes in his game currently, but one thing he needs to get better at this summer is becoming more of a jump shooter. This summer may be the most important summer in terms of his basketball development.
