A.J. Uttech – 2023 – PG – Columbus
Uttech looks like a strong Division 3/NAIA prospect. Facing a guard-heavy MAS squad with quickness and athleticism, Uttech put up a team-high 22 points. A strong, athletic guard, Uttech does a great job of getting defenders on his hip. Once he gets into the paint, Uttech plays very strong off two feet and has an array of finishes to evade defenders. He’s very rim oriented and rarely settles, Uttech did knock down a couple of tough shots outside the paint with defenders draped all over him. Averaging north of 20 points per game as a senior, Uttech certainly elevated himself in the rankings with Tuesday’s performance.
Agape Keys Jr. Agape Keys Jr. 6'2" | CG Milwaukee Academy Of Science | 2025 State WI – 2025 – G – Milwaukee Academy of Science
Keys is a really nice player that doesn’t get his due in this state. The sophomore guard got the Novas off to a nice start, opening the game with a pair of 3-pointers. Keys had a terrific game on both ends of the floor. Not only did Keys score 19 points, but often neutralized Colmubus’ leading scorer for long stretches of the game. Keys was 7-of-12 from the field, dished out four assists, and also had two steals. MAS has a lot of talent and flash. Keys is just the steady one of the group. He plays within himself, makes high-IQ basketball plays, doesn’t get too high or too low, and takes advantage of his opportunities. Just wired like a typical coach’s son.
Devin Brown Devin Brown 6'7" | PF Milwaukee Academy Of Science | 2025 State #196 Nation WI – 2025 – PF – Milwaukee Academy of Science
Brown is steadily getting better and raising his stock. He’s always been a terrific athlete with a strong body. Brown can dominate around the rim, but now he’s taking his game outside the paint as well. The 6-foot-7 sophomore was very effective in the high post and had some flashes of going coast-to-coast with the basketball or attacking from the top of the key. Scoring 20 points, Brown had a very strong second half to help MAS pull away. Defensively, Brown is one of the best rim protectors in the state. He gets off the ground quickly and effortlessly, allowing him to recover even when he’s a step behind or late to react. There’s also a little junkyard dog in Brown when it comes to scrapping for loose balls and mixing it up with physicality. Schools will fall in love with the physical measurables, but if Brown’s skills continue to catch up…watch out.
Jamarion Batemon Jamarion Batemon 6'3" | CG Milwaukee Academy of Science | 2025 State #174 Nation WI – 2025 – G – Milwaukee Academy of Science
Batemon just tore apart the Columbus zone. The sophomore guard came out and scored 14 quick points, including four 3-pointers. One of the best shooters in the state, Batemon poured in a game-high 34 points on just 17 shots when all was said and done. Late in the game, Columbus threw multiple defenders at Batemon, tried to trap him, or just get the ball out of his hands. Batemon handled it like a veteran, didn’t commit turnovers, and still got his offense. While he’s a deadly 3-point shooter, Batemon is really adding to his game as a scorer. He’ll drive into the teeth of the defense, pull up off the bounce, and score in the mid-range in a variety of ways. A plus-length guard with incredible range, Batemon made Columbus extend its zone way out beyond the perimeter, which made the soft spots even bigger. Also a pesky defender, Batemon uses his length well to get his hands on the ball and is an excellent weapon in the press as well.
Nolan Stauffacher Nolan Stauffacher 6'4" | SF Columbus | 2023 State WI – 2023 – SF – Columbus
Who knew they were hiding athletes in Columbus? Stauffacher can definitely elevate and had a couple of big-time plays above the rim. In the first half, Stauffacher met a 6-foot-7 forward at the summit and rejected a dunk attempt. In the second half, he threw down a massive two-hand slam with a defender nearby in transition. The 6-foot-4 senior finished with 11 points, three rebounds, and two blocks in Tuesday’s loss. Stauffacher also showed off a nice mid-range, fall away game, catching roughly 8-10 feet from the hoop and scoring with his momentum going away from the bucket. Aside from the highlights, Stauffacher stood out with his competitiveness on both ends. He battles every minute he’s on the floor, and as a coach, you have to drag him off for a break.
