Hutchinson is an odds on favorite to take home state MVP honors if the Mustangs win the title. The hybrid forward has size and athleticism, and plays the game with an edge, that will be heightened in the playoff settings. He’s been an impact player for Meadows all season, comming up big in the team’s biggest games. Keep an eye on his outside shooting, as he shot 45% from behind the line during the regular season.
The Highlanders are back in the Final Four, led by one of the best shooters in the state. Williams has been magnificent, leading Incline in scoring while averaging over 22 points per game on the seasson. He will be a key player to keep an eye on if the Highlanders are to come away from Vegas with the 2A crown.
Carrillo is a definite player to keep an eye on this weekend. He’s been the leading scorer for a West Wendover squad looking for their second title in three season. He’s averaged over 14 points per game for the Wolverines with a season high of 27 against Lake Mead.
Coleman has been terrific for one of the most talented teams in Las Vegas regardless of class. The Floor General has proven he can score the ball, leading the Knights in scoring, averaging over 19 points per game. It will be important to keep an eye on his overall playmaking ability as DPAC looks to capture the state crown.
Highlights
Stroughter has really improved his overall game this season. A hard driving downhill scorer, he averaged over 17 points per game, however his increased playmaking allowed him to lead the Knights in assist. He’ll be a key player to watch as he impacted the game on the defensive end as well, leading the team with almost 4 steals per game.
If I have to push my chips in the middle, I want Bevacqua holding the cards. The senior PG is a winner, who hopes to cap off one of the most accomplished HS careers in State history. He’s been a star, and the Mustangs best player from the second he stepped on campus. All eyes will be on him, as he looks to lead the Mustangs to back to back titles.
