Continue ReadingWe recently put out our first watch list for the freshman class in the state of VA, and we will take a look at each positional ranking from guards, wings and forwards. Obviously some of these players are positionless players that can fit in multiple spots, but we did our best to categorize them based on their skillset.
Here’s a look at the power forwards and centers in the new rankings.
Odita Aguolo | 6’7” PF | Blue Ridge
Aguolo is a young piece on one of the top teams in the country so he doesn’t see that much time, but what we’ve seen from him is very intriguing moving forward. The 6’7” forward is a big body with nimble feet and the ability to get up and down the floor, he’s a load in the paint with soft touch and he rebounds well on both ends and Blue Ridge has a history of developing big men and getting the most out of their talent.
Latrell Allmond Latrell Allmond 6'8" | C John Marshall | 2026 State VA | 6’8” PF | John Marshall
Allmond looks like he will make a run for the top prospect in the class when we do the first official rankings, as he’s been a dominant piece for a John Marshall team that’s considered one of the best in the country. He’s an absolute monster in the paint who’s already strong enough to outmuscle older bigs and is athletic enough to finish above the rim consistently, he plays with a very high motor and is productive on both ends of the floor and he’s shown good touch and ball skills on the perimeter as well.
Evan Brown Evan Brown 6'7" | PF Bishop Ireton | 2026 State VA | 6’7” C | Highland School
Brown is part of a young Highland School that has been one of the biggest surprises in the state this season, and the 6’7” big man is showing a lot of upside while being productive as a young big man prospect. He runs the floor very hard and gets easy opportunities in transition, he has great balance and is able to absorb contact and finish in the paint and he competes on the glass and on the defensive end too.
Ripp Kodi Ripp Kodi 6'5" | PF Bishop Ireton | 2026 State VA | 6’5” C | Bishop Ireton
Kodi has shown flashes of being one of the best young big men prospects in the WCAC, and has had moments where he’s shined in conference play as just a freshman. The 6’5” big man is skilled and is able to stretch the floor offensively, he has good hands and feet with soft touch in the paint and as he continues to grow into his body he’ll get more athletic as well.
Kosi Mgbejiofor | 6’10” C | Catholic
When it comes to pure upside, there may not be any prospect in the state regardless of class who is more intriguing that Mgbejiofor who has helped Catholic to become one of the top teams in the state. At 6’10” the freshman big man runs and jumps like an NBA player blocking shots and finishing above the rim with ease, he runs the floor hard and is able to get chase down blocks and get easy buckets in transition and he’s able to dominate the game with pure athleticism and size already, making it a very scary thought to think of how good he can be when he continues to develop.
Cooper Sundra Cooper Sundra 6'9" | PF Paul VI | 2026 VA | 6’6” PF | Paul VI
While Sundra doesn’t play all that much for a PVI team that is considered one of the top teams in the country, the way we saw his brother, now junior Garrett Sundra Garrett Sundra 6'11" | C Paul VI | 2024 State #148 Nation VA , develop bolds well for him moving forward. He has an intriguing mix of athleticism and length and is likely still growing, he moves well and plays with a high motor and he has shown touch out to the three-point line too.
Kong Tangwa Kong Tangwa 6'5" | C Potomac | 2026 State VA | 6’5” C | Potomac
Tangwa is still growing and is still a little raw at this point, but the fundamentals he uses and the size he has a young big man it’s a safe bet he’s going to be a very productive player in the NOVA area over the next few years. The 6’5” big man does a good job providing a big target in the paint and seals well, he understands angles and uses the glass well with both hands and he plays with a good motor too.
Aiden Woodberry Aiden Woodberry 6'4" | PF St. Charles | 2026 TX | 6’3” PF | Bishop Ireton
Woodberry came back from an injury he suffered in middle school this season and has improved steadily throughout his freshman year to earn a solid spot in the rotation. He can play in the post or on the wing, he’s versatile with good ball skills and the ability to score inside-out making him a mismatch problem and he’s willing to do the dirty work as well.
