The 6’7 combo forward has helped his Largo squad cement a spot in Wednesday’s Prince Georges County Championship game after a stellar sophomore campaign that also included eclipsing the 1000-point scoring mark.
It was amazing, the way they treated me and how the players interacted with me,” Ward told Prep Hoops. “The relationships they built from the head coach to the grad assistants were amazing. Their style of play definitely fits me, the fast paced in the offense type of play and the town was definitely more than welcoming.”
Ward has established himself as as four-star prospect, but there’s plenty of reason to believe that by the time his high school career comes to a close, that fifth star will be added. He currently holds offers from the likes of Illinois, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, George Mason, George Washington, Bryant and Canisius. Arkansas, Maryland and other high-major programs could be on the verge of officially extending offers as well.
“Coach Brewer is handling my recruitment he’s extremely invested,” Ward said in regards to his relationship with the Arkansas staff. “My favorite part was definitely watching them play and warmup on the sidelines and after going into the locker room with the guys it gave me the feeling like I was on the team.”
The postseason of the high school season is here and Largo will set eyes on facing off against Wise for bragging rights of PG County before setting sail on state tournament play. Immediately after ramps up AAU season where Ward will play with Team Durant once again on the EYBL Circuit. After an impressive showing on the 15U level last spring and summer, his name has started to circulate within power five programs. His versatility and ability to impact the game both as a scorer and playmaker for his size should have schools lining up sooner rather than later.
