Continue ReadingKennedy can score in a variety of ways and understands how to attack defenses. Well-versed offensive skillset, makes a lot of tough shots around the paint. Can play either guard spot. Ready to contribute to a college program right away. Georgia College offered him last week and UNC Asheville seems to be showing love as well.
Great physical tools for a wing in terms of size and length. Shoots the 3 fairly well and will become more of an offensive weapon as he becomes more comfortable attacking off the bounce. McGhee can also affect the game with his rebounding and shot-blocking. His recruitment remains wide open.
Baker is one of Georgia’s best available, regardless of position. Can score and facilitate at a high-level, has all the tools you look for in a SG. Consistent scoring numbers at Johnson-Savannah and a great all-round feel for the game. Sneaky athletic and isn’t afraid to throw it down when he has room to elevate. Currently holds offers from Kennesaw State and Voorhees.
Highlights
Cam Pope has been the most consistent guy in a loaded backcourt over the past 2 years at Cherokee. Great 3-level scorer, can hit tough, off-balance shots. Has come a long way athletically and is starting to play above the rim more. Handles it well too and has a nice change of speeds. Pope has a few D3 offers on the table but hasn’t shut it down yet. His 4.3 GPA should also attract some high-academic schools.
Highlights
Nichols is arguably the most athletic player in the state but he’s come a long way from being just an athlete. Great on-ball defender, moves feet really well. Gets a ton of blocks and rebounds around the paint because of his vertical ability. Makes some acrobatic finishes at the rim when he’s not throwing it down. Nichols recruitment picked up in recent months, adding Bishop State, Shelton State, and Lenoir-Rhyne to his offer list.
McDowell is another talented guard in McDonough’s loaded perimeter bunch. Capable of carrying a scoring load and great shooter from all over the floor. Crafty finisher around the basket too. More athletic than you’d imagine at first glance and he can get up above the rim when he needs to. His recruitment has been quiet to this point but McDowell certainly has the talent to play at the college level.
Jackson Bell Jackson Bell 6’3″ | SG Nixa | 2022 State MO has provided consistently solid guard play for Mt. Bethel, one of Georgia’s hottest teams through the first half of the season. Very athletic, loves to play above the rim and finish lobs. Shooting it really well from 3 right now and can hit mid-range pull ups effortlessly. Bell’s most recent offers are from Roanoke and Marion Military.
Johnson initially caught my attention this summer, playing with PSB out of Atlanta. Now, he’s the leader of a Brunswick squad that’s exceeding expectations. Offensive skillset is there, capable of running either guard spot. Gets nice elevation on his jumper which allows him to get it off over defenders. Isn’t afraid to mix it up inside and has multiple 10 rebound games this year. Earlier this week, Jefferson College became the first to offer Johnson.
Connolly remains one of the last still available from a killer 2023 Atlanta All-Stars team. I think he’s most effective as a slashing 2-guard but schools will likely want to him see in some catch and shoot scenarios as well. Very active on offense, making cuts and working to get open. Has good physical tools for a SG. 6’4 with a good looking wingspan and an impressive vertical jump. Currently holds offers from Lagrange and Maryville.
Marcus Whitlock is still available late in the game, despite his clear talent and great production at Newton. He’s battled with injuries here and there but when he’s on the floor, major difference maker. Provides energy and toughness on both ends. Great spot-up shooter from behind the arc and can drive past defenders when they step out. Without a doubt, one of Georgia’s best still on the board.
