Continue ReadingWilson’s stock rose in the fall with some nice camp showings and a great fall league. He’s a do-it-all forward that can score at all 3 levels and dominate weaker defenders with his physicality. Strong on the attack and has the skillset to take guys off the dribble or hit shots when given space. Wilson doesn’t publicize a lot of his recruitment but he’ll likely be a nice grab for a LM/MM program.
Hart is a high-motor forward that’s been a huge part of Cherokee’s success this year. Loves to compete around the paint and grabs a ton of rebounds. Offensive skillset has shown a lot of growth in the past year and he’s shown the ability to knock down shots from mid-range. If Hart was an inch or two taller, I think his recruitment would be a different story but schools will soon realize that his energy and toughness make up for it. I’ve heard Dalton State has been showing interest.
Tycen McDaniels Tycen McDaniels 6’7″ | SF Spencer | 2023 State GA out of Columbus made some noise this summer with budding program, Georgia South and has gained some serious traction entering 2023. He’s a big time athlete that loves to finish above the rim and deny shot attempts. The ceiling for McDaniels is scary to think about. Holds offers from Troy and Towson while Murray St. and Youngstown St. have also shown recent interest.
Landon New
Landon New
Landon New is a stretch 4 that can knock down perimeter shots or score out of either post. High-arcing jump shot that falls more often than not. Good feet in the post and finishes well over both shoulders. Will need to get to get stronger inside to rebound and compete with bigs at the college level but the size and skill is there. 3.9 GPA could also help open doors to some high-academic schools.
Johnson is a springy forward that’s played a lot of high-level basketball with Pebblebrook and the Atlanta Celtics. Wants to dunk everything and draws a lot of fouls inside. Forced to play an undersized 5 right now but his highest ceiling is as a 4 at the next level, especially as his shot develops and he’s able to step out further from the basket. Columbia State offered him back in October.
There’s a lot to like with Williams and his game is polished but the only knock is that he’s undersized for a college big. Nonetheless, he’s always impactful and has stepped up as a leader for this year’s Buford squad. He’s proven capable of carrying the scoring load when needed and rebounds a lot better than most 6’5s. His intangibles will prove valuable to a college program when things are all said and done.
Etter is 6’7, can go inside-out, and shoots it at an elite level so it’s puzzling why he’s still available. He can play either forward spot, effective as a screener because of his ability to pop or roll. Biggest question for college coaches is probably his athleticism and foot speed but in my evaluations, Etter has really defended well on the perimeter. Could be steal for a LM/MM program this late in the game.
Stephen Akwiwu
Stephen Akwiwu
Akwiwu is a big, physical forward that impacts multiple facets of the game for Mill Creek. Double-double machine, aggressive rebounder. Doesn’t shy away from contact and will dunk on defenders that jump with him. Good feet around the rim as well. Lots of potential for growth as his offensive skillset continues developing. His recruitment remains wide open right now.
Kenneth Brayboy
Kenneth Brayboy
Kenneth Brayboy has been one of this season’s biggest stock risers and has opened a lot of eyes through the first half of the season. Brayboy is an athletic 4-man that loves to finish above the rim and contest shots. His offensive skillset is what’s stood out this year and he’s shooting the three really well. I could picture Brayboy being an excellent D2 player if a D1 doesn’t scoop him up.
Ethan Weems
Ethan Weems
Weems was apart of Hoop Atlanta’s inaugural 2023 group, all of which sit with offers, and his exposure has really taken off within the past year or so. Helped turn around a North Springs team that’s currently 9-6. Solid 6’6 frame that helps him rebound and block shots on the interior. Can also stretch the floor with his outside shooting ability. Brevard remains his only offer to date.
