Here are the top upperclassmen from these games.
Lewis has been going off this year. He seems to be playing for something, if I had to guess it’s an offer. This kid should get one. He dropped a school record 43 points last week and when I saw him play on Saturday you could tell his confidence and rhythm he is in offensively at a high level. His jumper seems to be coming off quicker and smoother. His shot is looking good. He is making some very tough baskets around the rim. I mean this kid is playing for a scholarship offer and I don’t know what is stopping colleges. He checks all the boxes. Athletic, length, height, and skill.
Nutter was great Tuesday night for Jerome. He was doing it all the entire game. He played just how you want your scoring point guard to. He was running the offense and setting teammates up in scoring positions. He got off to a hot start scoring wise with scoring seven points in the 1st. He ended up with a game-high 19 points. Nutter was doing a great job of absorbing contact around the rim and still finishing. He seeks contact all night. Did a great job of landing on two, pump-faking, then jumping into the defenders. He got a lot of rebounds. He had a lot of energy and seemed ready for this big-time OCC matchup.
Schaffer has one of the highest motors I have seen a big have. He has a good over-the-left-shoulder hook shot. He attacks the rim hard. Nice jumper on him. He started to expose the size advantage he had on Hartley. He was getting buckets at ease. He played a big role in the second half of putting this game out of reach.
Highlights
House showed me a part of his game on Saturday that was great to see. He showed that he can and is willing to get his points at the rim. Sometimes I feel like House floats around the perimeter too much for the size advantage he has. He finished the game-high 18 points against Olentangy Orange and got almost all of his points off of layups around the rim. He was physical and strong. Converted tough and-1s and exposed his size advantage when the Panthers needed it. He was great and I think it might’ve unlocked his confidence near the rim.
You know what you are getting with Luke Ruth Luke Ruth 6’2″ | CG Bishop Ready | 2023 State OH . He has a really good size for a point guard. Handles the ball very well and runs the Bishop Ready offense very well. He has a nice mid-range pull-up game. He also showed some really good back-to-the-basket bag. He makes good moves in that position and made some great passes out of the post. He came out in the second half trying to put the game away for Ready. Was aggressive and had a huge second half to close out the big-time Central Catholic League win.
Edwards is one of the best passers in the state of Ohio. I think this is because he always has his head up. His comfort level with the ball is very high. He has his head up through double teams, full-court pressure, and great on-ball defense. He always finds an open teammate. He rarely has turnovers. He is good at jumping when driving just to draw defenders in the air and dish it out. I love watching him play the game because his passing is great.
