That first quarter shooting magic ran dry but a young prospects showed some solid game as he used that three-level scoring to end the game as the top scorer.
Jaxon is probably a legit 6’9 now and his team runs a really good mixture of motions and sets that allow him to use his skills by being all over the floor. Inside he is more decisive going to open areas in the post and although he missed some he made the right plays. His comfort with his back to the basket was evident as he kept his vision up trusting his footwork and dribbling to find open cutters and shooters. On defense he was switching and was probably the best defender on the floor protecting the paint and the perimeter. In the press when he was at the top altering passes and clogging the line of sight in passing lanes he looked effective. Kid has skills.
First time watching Bryce Mella Bryce Mella 6'5" | CG Mountain View | 2026 State UT this season at the high school level and he was fun to watch. He has matured a lot and he played with some swag as he bodied and bullied a few of the smaller Alta guards. Bryce had 25 points and once again proved that he is a Top 10 kid in the state. The most impressive thing about Bryce is that last year e was playing the 4 and at times the 3 and this year at the high school level he was playing 1-5 and he was mainly playing the PG position. His handle is good enough right now to hold off good active defenders at bay. He has some skill moves that get him to the rim or near the rim. If you do not close in on him he is going to light you up from deep as he hit 4 last night. In the post he had his way and he even had success posting bigger players. Really was the most impressive player on the floor last night.
Ace was in take over mode last night. He started the game with some slashing and passing which was great because he got touches all over. Late in the shot clock he seems to be the right player with the ball in his hands. He probably faced 6 to 7 different defenders and he frankly made them all look silly with the way he has the ball on a string. D1 coaches need to bring him and take a really good look at him because he has skills. In the 2nd half he went to the jumper and mid-range and his defensive tips and steals caused some havoc for the opposing team. Great showing for Ace,
Do not overlook this kid he can play. At Alta he plays a great roll and he lets the game come to him. Teammates missed him a few times in the post and he did not get frustrated he just kept moving and working. That led to offensive rebounds and easy buckets. Doleac probably had the play of the night when he got ahead of the pack on a steal and went up and elevated on a two handed dunk. Doleac is a D2 type kid. Could see a local D2 taking a look at him as he would fit their style of play very well.
