On Monday, December 12th I watched the 6A Chandler Wolves host the 6A Sandra Day O'Connor Eagles.

The home team Chandler was 2-4 overall and Sandra Day O'Connor Eagles were 2-2 on the season. SDO ended up winning the varsity game 67-57 led by a balanced attack. Before the varsity game, I watched the JV game. Both teams had some talented young players to look out for in the near future.

Here were the standouts from the Junior Varsity game:

[player_tooltip player_id='1633022' first='Charles' last='Cobbs'] Chandler

A shifty guard who can score and play both guard spots. He has quick hands and he can defend his man. He can burst right passed his defenders and score on floaters or layups. He can make some plays for his teammates but is mostly looking to score.

[player_tooltip player_id='1505672' first='Ryan' last='Leggitt'] Chandler

A thicker framed sharp shooting wing can rattle off triples. He is strong enough to work inside and score on put backs with tough rebounds. He will steal the ball with his strong hands from the post players and brings confidence to the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1445948' first='Brandon' last='Stapleton'] Chandler

The lone freshman on Chandler's JV affects the game on both sides of the court. He is a two-way player who can score, facilitate and defend. The lefty can slither into the lane and step back and shoot it off the dribble from mid to the three.

[player_tooltip player_id='1445955' first='Jayden' last='Smith'] Chandler

A quick two-way point guard is a defensive nightmare. The lefty has a quick burst to get passed his defenders to score on layups or use the floater. He is a good passer and plays hard on the ball defensively to rip some pockets. He cashed in and made his free throws when he got to the line.

[player_tooltip player_id='1697258' first='Donnelle' last='Young'] Chandler

The Wolves improving soph forward has length and fluidity. He runs the court and can score around the rim. He is an out of area rebounder and walls up with his size and length. He has good hands to catch passes. He has only been playing for one year of organized ball and has a bright future if he keeps working at it.

[player_tooltip player_id='1697292' first='Rylan' last='Parsley'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A long wing shooter can rattle off triples. He is very lean but can drive and kick it to shooters with a decent handle and court vision. He will hit perimeter jumpers and has a polished runner. He is one of the three top freshmen on JV.

[player_tooltip player_id='1697293' first='Ryker' last='Hughes'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A long and lean post player has a nice touch inside the paint with good hands. He runs the floor well and will rebound and block shots in his area. He will score on basic post moves but has great size for class, which seems to be a theme at O'Connor.

[player_tooltip player_id='1697291' first='Amare' last='Runyon'] Sandra Day O'Connor (Pictured)

A huge kid is built similarly to recent St. Mary's grad Bear Cherry. He has good hands to catch with his big mitts and huge feet. He is a strong two-handed rebounder boxing his defenders out and using his girth. He is a very good passer out of the post or double team and seems to catch everything inside.
