On Wednesday Feb 11th I attended the match-up of 4A ALA-Queen Creek Patriots hosting the 4A Paradise Honors Panthers. ALA-QC will play in the OPEN and Paradise Honors will play in the 4A playoffs.

I checked out all three levels with Freshman, JV and Varsity.

Here were the standouts on the night

All the stats are unofficial.

Freshman Game (69-34 ALA-QC won)

[player_tooltip player_id='3491500' first='Andrew' last='Mihilli'] ALA QC

A true point forward kind of plays like his brother [player_tooltip player_id='1875434' first='George' last='Mihilli']. He is actually a little taller already and he is a natural downhill scorer in traffic with very long strides. He scores a lot off the glass, he runs the floor well and will rebound and push the pace. He finished with 15+ points with multiple assists, steals and rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='3491509' first='Eli' last='McClenaghan'] ALA QC

A very fluid wing is another point forward type. He throws up the court passes and will drive and kick it. He scores it many ways with spin moves towards the basket, cuts off the ball and threes off the catch. He scored 14+ points with multiple assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='3491598' first='Brooks' last='Wright'] ALA QC

A big framed strong bodied post player is the teams rare center on the freshmen team. He controls the glass and he rebounds well in and out of his area. He is very cerebral surprisingly as a next level passer threading the needle in traffic. He scored 2 points with 3-5 assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='3491617' first='Masen' last='Jensen'] ALA QC

A pure point guard makes passes with either hand look easy. He will often drive and kick it for assists. He will score with threes off the catch, off the glass put backs, off the ball cuts and he has a sneaky burst to the rim but changes speeds well. He finished with 14+ points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3491606' first='Dru' last='Fullmer'] ALA QC

A combo guard who can play on or off the ball. He plays at his own space and he has long arms to collect steals. He will score with threes off the catch, moving without the ball and he will score in transition. He finished with 7+ points.

Junior Varsity Game (46-44 ALA-QC won)

[player_tooltip player_id='3491359' first='Talon' last='Fullmer'] ALA QC

A wing forward with a little athleticism can make some plays, defend, rebound and score. He gets downhill with either hand to score, he will hit the three off the catch and score with put backs. He is a smart passer who can find a teammate and he made a huge rebound under 10 secs left to essentially seal a close win.

[player_tooltip player_id='2560312' first='Corey' last='Brown Jr'] ALA QC

A cerebral point guard with some feel. He sees the court quickly and threads it in. He can score with threes off the catch, he can get a step on his defender and finish or get to the free throw line. He will most likely play on varsity next year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2744689' first='Emmett' last='McComber'] ALA QC

A long power forward is efficient around the basket to score. He uses his size and length to score with offensive rebound put backs. He has softer hands to catch some tough passes and will rebound in his area.

[player_tooltip player_id='2396140' first='JR' last='Moore'] Paradise Honors

A combo guard who is a natural attacker. He loves to slash to the basket and will make plays. He will drive and dump it off inside to a teammate, throw up the court looks and plays off of the pick and roll game perfectly. He has a sharp mid-range pull-up and will post up using his size and get out on the break. He also plays the passing lanes to collect steals. Look for him to play varsity minutes next year and most likely start. He finished with close to 15 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2537936' first='Fazal' last='Bishi'] Paradise Honors

A long combo guard plays on or off the ball. He directs most of the offense and has good speed and quickness laterally to defend on the ball. He will drive and kick and put pressure on the defense getting to the basket to score or get fouled. He will hit shots from mid-range and is a capable three point shooter.

[player_tooltip player_id='3492903' first='Johnny' last='Lentz'] Paradise Honors

A power forward who is fairly skilled around the basket. He outlets the ball well after he grabs rebounds in and out of his area. He has pretty good hands with a nice free throw touch. He runs the floor and plays hard on defense. He looks to play on varsity next year.

Varsity Game (44-39 ALA-QC won)

[player_tooltip player_id='1875434' first='George' last='Mihilli'] ALA QC (Pictured left)

A strong framed combo guard plays the role of the point guard for the team. He has next level court vision and feel. He will score with offensive rebound put backs and tough downhill takes. He rebounds like a man in and out of his area and his football toughness shows every outing. He has offers and interest for both football and basketball and it will be interesting which route he chooses. He scored 6 points with 5+ rebounds and assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='2330492' first='Aydin' last='Rauschel'] ALA QC (Pictured right)

A power forward was the top scorer of the night with 16 points in a defensive battle. He scored it with self created takes to the basket with spin move and a nice handle. He can play with his back to the basket and make a quick move to the basket plus step out and hit the three. He is a sneaky good passer once he gets doubled or crowded and has soft hands to rebound.

[player_tooltip player_id='3492881' first='Jadon' last='Osteen'] ALA QC

A thicker framed power forward who is effective and efficient near the basket. He rebounds well in his area and will score with contested layups moving without the ball. He is a nice glue player next to Rauschel.

[player_tooltip player_id='2467778' first='Nash' last='Jensen'] ALA QC

A skilled guard who can play on or off the ball. He makes smart reads by moving the ball and he has quick hands to collect steals. He can score it with threes off the catch and mid-range pull-ups. He can hang in the air and fall away and he will be leaned on more next year.

[player_tooltip player_id='3492880' first='Nash' last='Proctor'] ALA QC

A tough wing forward who is a two-way player. He collects steals and rebound in and out of his area. He will score with tough layups and offensive rebound put backs. He is also a sneaky good passer and plays team ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='3492890' first='Sebastian' last='Marrufo'] Paradise Honors

A highly skilled scoring guard plays on or off the ball. He has a very polished mid-range jumper and will fill it up one by one. He can extend to the three point line and will collect steals and rebounds well out of his area and shows toughness. He led the Panthers with 11.

[player_tooltip player_id='1591736' first='Dillan' last='McClinton'] Paradise Honors

A tough undersized power forward plays bigger then his size suggests. He rebounds everything near him with his stronger frame and softer hands. He will score it around the basket with either hand and extend it to the three point line with a nice arc. He finished with 10 points and close to 10 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='2418555' first='Aaron' last='Hubbard'] Paradise Honors

A quickly improving power forward who is extremely fluid from end to end. He will rip thru and create his own offense with a better handle then a year ago. He can grab a ball off the glass and push it and gobbled up all boards off the glass near him with his good size and plus length. He is definitely turning the corner in his career. He had 6+ rebounds and 2 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2853968' first='Scaren' last='Usate'] Paradise Honors

A strong framed wing forward is a defensive presence. He rebounds everything near him and blocks shots in bunches. He scores with tough contact layups, euro steps and mid-range jumpers. He scored 10 points with multiple rebounds, steals and blocks.
